The Owners and Innkeepers, are happy to welcome visitors to Ontario's wine country, where the scenic beauty of the Niagara Escarpment is matched by such diverse cultural attractions as the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and regional cuisine at estate wineries; there is so much to do in Niagara. Return to a gracious period in Niagara's history, when the leading families of St. Catharines resided in stately homes along Yates Street and the banks of the original Welland Canal. Built in 1905, in the Queen Anne style, Springbank House occupies the site of an earlier city landmark, the Springbank Hotel and Spa, and later, Bishop Ridley College. This prestigious, 100-year-old residence, which was in the Taylor Family for over 70 years, was renamed Springbank House. Today, the magnificent wisteria vine and magnolia tree, planted over 90 years ago, frame the picture-perfect front porch and perennial garden. Behind the oversized solid oak front door, the house unfolds into a variety of glamorous spaces, formal living and dining rooms, a conservatory, and a leather-paneled library featuring a beautiful inglenook fireplace. Upstairs, the bedrooms have been updated to include a private bathroom for each suite. The furnishings of Springbank House include period pieces from generations of Canadian families, as well as pieces from the families of the Innkeepers themselves.
