Property Description

Pillar and Post is a charming country inn with a past intimately connected to Niagara-on-the-Lake's agricultural history. The hotel has a relaxed elegance, highlighted by an abundance of fresh flowers, sunshine streaming in through skylights, and beautiful terra cotta tile floors. An ideal location for a family vacation or business meeting, Pillar and Post is Ontario's only five-star country inn. Pillar and Post was originally a canning factory known as Factory 13 in the late 1890s. For over 20 years, Factory 13 was regarded as one of the foremost producers of quality peaches and tomatoes in the Niagara Region. In 1914, the upper floor became a supply storeroom for several hundred Polish soldiers being trained in Canada. In 1957, Factory 13 ended its 60-year reign as a cannery and was reopened as a basket manufacturer until 1970 when it was converted into a restaurant and craft centre. In 1972, it was lovingly transformed into a fine hotel. Its original purpose is evoked in the clean lines of the brick walls and in the post-and-beam construction. Recently redesigned, the 122 guestrooms are filled with comfortable contemporary furnishings and luxurious amenities. A range of room styles is available, starting from a traditional room with either a queen- or king-size bed, through to deluxe and premium rooms, which feature king-size four-poster beds, jetted tubs, and gas fireplaces. All have plush hypoallergenic duvets, two-inch mattress pads, and 300-thread-count sheets, plus many small touches that provide the unique feeling of a fine country inn. Above all, these are rooms to relax in: guests can slip into a plush bathrobe, curl up on a comfortable couch in the sitting area, order room service, draw a luxurious bath, and spend the day indulging in the peace and quiet of a private hideaway. We boast 13 meeting rooms with a combined space of 12,825 square feet for all your meetings, wedding and social events.
