The room and bathroom were clean. The staff very friendly. However we could not get to our second floor room without using stairs or going way out of our way. Hard lugging bags and things up/down stairs. I wish we had been informed of parties and sound checks happening right outside our window. We couldn't fall asleep or enjoy watching TV while loud music and children yelling and people talking loudly right out side our room. Never encountered such a thing before at any hotel. We enjoy peace and quiet when we travel. Don't think we will be coming back! We'll stick to Hampton Inns where we know we can test. right.

First of all my reservation was on the 6th and not on the 5th. I already had cancelled the 5th my cc.reservation and made a new reservation for the 6th Hotel had charged for "now show" Further, I had chosen the option pay at the hotel, but when I got there I realized they already had charge my C.C. Then the hotel will not give me a bill payment proof that I always receive at the check out. When I asked to see the manager I was told that "she was in a meeting that could not be disturbed! It took 2hrs delay and talking to an office boy with an extreemly loud voice without any result, who thought he was doing me a FAVOR BUT NOT CHARGING ME FOR A NIGHT I WAS NOT IN THE HOTEL AND I HAD CANCELLED ON THE PHONE TO THE HOTEL. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!

The Hotel itself is not bad for its price. HOWEVER, Their practices are VERY questionable! I had made a reservation at the Hotel site, I had chosen the option to PAY AT THE HOTEL. When arrived at the hotel I was told me I already had PAID! When I wanted to check out they told me I also had a NO SHOW THE NIGHT BEFORE! I had called to change the date for one night reservation over 10 days before. I had been told they CANNOT CHANGE A RESERVATION! I HAD TO CANCEL AND MAKE ANOTHER ONE. I HAD DONE THAT. NOW THEY CANNOT GIVE ME ANY CHECK OUT PAPER EITHER. I HAVE BEEN SITTING OVER AN HOUR HERE WAITING! THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE. NOT SATISFIED AT ALL.

We were extremely pleased with the staffs accommodation to the time schedule for our group (12 people) attending a local wedding and reception. We were checked in early, given great rooms and provided with a satisfying breakfast the following morning. I would recommend the Altoona Grand Hotel to anyone needing a motel in the vicinity.

Far from ?grand?! Still had Ramada Inn plates on inside of doors. Really needs to be updated. Looks great from the pictures and even the lobby, but wait until you get to your room. Nothing special about it,except the price!
