As the largest city in Kansas, Wichita offers so much to do, all while sticking to its Midwestern roots. You'll find Wichita right on the Arkansas River in the south-central part of Kansas. The city got its start as a trading post on the Chisholm Trail and also turned into a destination for cattle traveling north from Texas, which gave Wichita its "Cowtown" nickname.
