This was my husband and I's first visit to Roanoke and we were excited to be staying in such a beautiful historic hotel. On Saturday Jan 23rd at approximately 10:30AM my husband and I decided to walk around the hotel just to see how big it was and to get some light exercise as it was freezing outside. We were stopped in front of a map of the conference center outside of your coffee shop when two male security staff approached us. They asked why we were looking at the map as there were currently no conferences being held. I replied that yes, that was obvious. We were just walking around (NOT EVEN IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM HALLWAYS). We were accused of "loitering" and was told we needed to move along. Treating us like suspected criminals. We were questioned about why we were looking at a map. Ridiculous. We were guests at your hotel made to feel like we didn't belong. We will not be returning and will not encourage others to either. How can treat paying guests like they do not belong? Simply for looking at a map of the conference center. Incredibly rude. Your valet staff on the other hand was incredibly helpful and polite.
