With famous landmarks such as the ramparts surrounding Old Québec, the only existing structures left in Canada; La Citadelle, the intact fortress in the center of the ramparts; and the National Assembly of Québec, the city is a popular tourist destination. If you're thinking about a trip to Québec City, finding the right hotel should be an important consideration. From affordable and mid-range hotels to luxury accommodations, you can find the ideal hotel for you in Québec City.

When to Visit Québec City, Québec

Even though winters in Québec City are cold, the winter months remain a popular time to visit. Snow is common between December and January, and average highs rarely reach above 20 degrees Fahrenheit. However, with many festivals and celebrations during these months, you can still find a way to stay warm from the excitement. The city decorates heavily for Christmas, and you can spend weekends in January and February celebrating Carnaval de Québec.

Spring weather in Québec City is milder and slightly wet. The average highs in March and April hover in the 30s and 40s. If you can handle the weather, this time of year is maple syrup harvesting season. Watch as harvesters boil sap to make syrup and get some tasty treats to enjoy during your stay. If you're looking for a great hotel deal, consider coming in May when temperatures are in the 60s, but the summer tourist season hasn't started yet.

The period from June through September is a popular time to visit Québec City. The weather is pleasant, with average highs in the 70s from June to August. Temperatures, however, can drop into the 60s in September. During these summer and early fall months, the city hosts festivals, alfresco dining, and plenty of outdoor activities. If you plan to visit during these months, be ready to pay more for a hotel room and make sure you book your room a few months in advance to guarantee its availability.

If you're trying to visit Québec City on a budget, consider coming in October or November. While the average highs are in the 40s and 50s, the summer crowds are gone and hotels will drop their rates. Plus, as the maple trees around the city start to change colors, you'll enjoy some vibrant hues in the Canadian scenery.

This is such a charming city. It is rare to feel so safe and welcomed, so that the fact we were tourists was minimized. Our youth choir received a really good audience at the their performance in the Cathedrale Holy Trinity, where we were also treated wonderfully.
