Antbear Lodge offers a few different hiking trail options on the property. Hike to the top of the hill on a 3 hour round trip where you can enjoy some spectacular views. Take a picnic lunch with you. Property Description
What makes our lodge particularly special is that we offer accommodation in a luxury cave. This is an accommodation unit built under a rock. Glass doors open onto a wooden deck with hammock chairs and a spectacular view of the Drakensberg Mountains. This is a luxury eco experience. The cave is cozy and comfortable with features like a Jacuzzi spa bath and a fireplace and even has rock art on its walls. We also offer a private dining experience where we setup a table on the deck of your cave and you dine by candlelight under the stars.We offer a conference meeting room facility. For weddings we even have an own chapel. Catering facilities for up to 100 guests are available. Antbear Lodge is one of those smaller owner run establishments with 18 accommodation units as either Mountain View suites or Garden view suites.Sustainability and responsible tourism are a huge part of the ethos of our lodge. And we try to do just about everything ourselves. It starts with our alternative structures and ends with the cheese on your breakfast table.Every single piece of furniture is made here at the lodge by ourselves. The furniture is artistic and inspiring. We have created huge mosaics, whimsical stain glass windows and even our own wooden hinges. People listen to me. The woodwork alone makes this lodge a destination in its own right.We cook all our meals from scratch and have our own organic vegetable garden. The meals we prepare have our South African twist to them and we cater for all dietary requirements with absolute pleasure. We have our own chickens for eggs, cows for milk and bake our own bread and we even make our own cheese. Antbear Lodge really is a special place.Conny is passionate about her horses and uses the gentler horse whispering techniques to train them. The outrides on the farm are slow and ideally suited to beginners. Hot air balloon flights can also be arranged that take off directly from the lodge. The area offers a lot with spectacular hiking trails with dramatic views and waterfalls.
