Horrible experience for a wedding block. They sent over a website link for the block that never worked even after I emailed twice about it. Guest would call to book and the staff had no idea what was going on, took a long time to find the block, had no idea if a shuttle would be provided. Called guests and told them they could only check in between I believe four to 10 pm or they should lose their room and it was non refundable. Let me think how people going to a wedding are going to be able to check in during the hours of the wedding. Which was a lie anyways they let people check in early and late so why put guests through that stress.

1. My primary grievance against the hotel is that I feel the group senior manager misrepresented the hotel's ability to transport the wedding party to and from the zoo at a single time and then refused to guarantee simple accommodations to alleviate this misrepresentation (early check in for some guests and requesting two shuttles for the after midnight return trip). This added a lot of preventable stress leading up to the wedding.I describe this in detail below. 2. Some of the guests in my wedding party were frustrated by their attempts to contact the hotel to reserve a room with the wedding block. They called the hotel directly and then were referred to the one 800 number for all Holiday Inns, who then referred them back to the hotel where they were going to stay. I ended up having to book rooms for some guests and walking others through the process. The guests described the front desk people they talked to as "uncaring" and "apathetic." 3. The bath tub was clogged when we checked in. Primary grievance: The reason we booked our wedding block at this hotel was because they said they would be able to transport our wedding party to and from nearby Brookfield Zoo on June 10. I have included the original email exchange below. As we got nearer to the wedding, the number of rooms booked by the party increased to 17. I expected this may cause an issue, so I emailed the hotel on April 24th asking how many people a shuttle could hold and I was told 11 by the sales coordinator assigned to our group. I then called the hotel and asked the group senior manager if they could still accommodate the 35 people in our wedding block that required transportation and the manager said yes and that it would be arranged after the May 10th cutoff date for our block. May 31st rolls around and the group senior manager calls and finally tells me that, in fact, the hotel can only bring 12 people at a time to the zoo with 30 minute intervals between shuttles. By this time, the invitations had already been sent out with the ONE pick up time from the hotel (5pm). From my point of view, this was a complete misrepresentation of the hotel's capacity to transport people to the zoo. Even with the original hotel block of 10 rooms, you have to assume two guests/room or 20 people total, which they wouldn't have been able to do in one trip. If they couldn't do it in one trip, that should have been explicit from the start, or at the very least when I called on April 24th. Now I needed three different trips to the zoo, so I needed to reach out to guests to assign shuttle times, including a 4:20pm shuttle which was unfortunate since check in time was 4pm. I contacted the hotel to try to get early check in for the guests who had volunteered to go at 4:20pm, but they refused and said they couldn't guarantee it until the day of check in. This would have been a very easy accommodation to make, but the hotel refused to do it. Furthermore, I learned that the hotel has two shuttles that can be used to transport people. I asked if I can have both shuttles for the return trip from the zoo at midnight. Again, the hotel refuses and says they would let me know the day of my wedding whether or not I will have to leave people in the parking lot of Brookfield Zoo until 1:30am (90 minutes after the event ends). Ultimately, I ordered a charter bus (at more expensive last minute rates) to transport people from the zoo to the hotel so they wouldn't be loitering in the zoo's parking lot for hours. My email responding to a bid off of Wedding Wire: Hi (group senior manager), Thank you for contacting me about a possible wedding block reservation. The wedding will be June 10th of next year (2017) at Brookfield Zoo. I would be interested in a hotel that would be able to shuttle guests to (~4:30pm) and from the zoo (~midnight). Would the Holiday Inn be able to offer such a service? If so, what would be the minimum number of guests required? Thank you, Hotel's response: Hello, We would defiantly be able to do shuttle transportation to and from the Zoo with a guestroom pickup of 10 or more room nights, this will guarantee you (1) round trip to and from the Zoo. Thank you, On the positive side: Good amenities (microwave, refrigerator). Was able to book a guest at the discounted block rate a day before the wedding. Positive interactions with sales coordinator assigned to our group.
