"We Loved Our Stay at Hotel Saranac."
Overall score4.0/ 5
This was our second stay at the Hotel Saranac and we loved it as much as the first. The hotel has the Adirondack charm you would expect while having all the amenities you want. The rooms are on the smallish side, but well designed and extremely comfortable. We didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. In addition, the hotel's restaurant serves up creative and delicious food and drinks.

"Nice but NYE celebration was very disappointing."
Overall score4.0/ 5
We (my husband and my brother and sister in law) stayed at Hotel Saranac last year on New Year's Eve because I had a gift card. We did North Country New Year and then spent from 10:30 (after the fireworks) until after midnight at the Great Hall. It was so much fun that we decided to do it again this year and invited more friends. The party in the Great Hall this year was beyond disappointing. First of all, a DJ rather than a band was not a good idea. Second of all, this particular DJ may have been enjoyed by some of the younger crowd, but the music he played was not enjoyable for much of anything. People were only occasionally dancing. Older folks (like anyone over 40) were never dancing. The DJ did not interact at all with the crowd. He was beyond boring. I can understand playing to the younger crowd, but a variety of genres would have been ideal, since there was a variety of people and ages in the room. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever that it was a holiday or special occasion. We ended up spending midnight in our room because we were so miserable at the party. The band last year was enjoyable to listen and dance to and did a group countdown and played Auld Lang Syne at midnight. Not sure what this guy did, but don't think he did a countdown or played Auld Lang Syne, as we could hear the party from our room. Also last year, the hotel handed out noise makers, hats and leighs. Also champagne for everyone. Very festive. Nothing festive at all this year. Your choice, but if there is a DJ next New Year's Eve, we will not be staying. If there is a band, we will. Everything else was fine.

"Disappointing Experience"
Overall score2.0/ 5
The king deluxe room was adequate but bathroom was size of a phone booth with a shower that was a nightmare. No housekeeping was provided while we were out of the room for 12 hours. Never experienced that before in any hotel stay. Sadly disappointing!
