Room was not clean, bedding was not changed or washed, bugs underneath the top cover all over. Dresser drawers dirty, as well as the night stands. Floor was not vacuumed. Only outlet to plug anything into was to he lamps on the night stands. The chair in the room for the desk was broken. The countertops in the bathroom were dirty and sticky. And not only that I had nothing but problems trying to extend my stay online.Tue super 8 app kept running my card and then crashing.from 9am 2pm it finally worked (website super 8) and took my payment for the room. Well then the desk clerk could not find my payment or confirmation number in there computers. They had sent my payment I had to call customer service back and was told that they had set my payment that was finally accepted at 2:00 p.m. to Kansas super 8 so they refused to transfer the payment over to the one that I was staying at in South bend and the lady at the front desk actually kicked me out of my room knowing that I paid for the room and everything confirmation number and all they still kick me out of my room and made me sit in the lobby and wait until they got their website fixed for them to be able to take my payment and then kick me out of my room and wouldn't let me in it after they had found out that my payment that finally was accepted was sent to the wrong super 8 motel so they wouldn't help me or do anything so I had to call customer service back and the super 8 in Kansas to get my money refunded back to me so I could use it for this hotel well they did not refund my money and then super 8 proceeded to run my credit card for an additional $117.88 two different days in a row and then the morning I went down to extend my stay two days later after all this happened I had found out that they had ran my credit card that I used to hold the room again that morning before I had came down and even told them I wanted to extend my stay a second time because I had nowhere else to go for an available room because of Notre Dame everything was booked so I was forced to stay there well then I had to call customer service back and my credit card company and they said that they kept charging it and charging it and charging it when it was never supposed to be charged I used my credit card to hold the room and I paid cash when I got there and they still ran my credit card three different times from Sunday now I found all this out on a Wednesday and when I booked for the pay for two nights get one free I had called and confirmed to make sure I had it and then when I got there I was told I did not have it and I did not find out until the day I was supposed to check out which was a day early to not only did they not refund my money that they took and sent to the wrong super 8 they ran my credit card four more times since then and refused to return the money back to my card and they would not let me stay there for the money that they took off my credit card they actually kicked me out after they had to talk to the credit card company on speakerphone along with customer service I still do not receive my money and told them that they should have never charged my card in the first place and they refused to tell me who was working at the time that my card was ran through according to the credit card company the worst experience. So now I have to call my credit card company back and file and have them file charges against super 8 for assessed for charging my credit card multiple times during my stay without authorization and when the card was only ever supposed to be used as to hold the room online until I got there and paid in cash for the room and the deposit which I did and they still ran my credit card multiple times on top of kicking me out of the room because their website was down knowing that I paid and everything refused to refund the money back to me when I had the free cancellation with refund for all days from Saturday until Wednesday the worst stay in a hotel I've ever had in my life the worst customer service I've ever seen and had in my life I'm absolutely disgusted in the way I was treated and how the rooms were they took my money without authorization refused to give it back and gave me the s*** room dirty with bugs and then tried making it as if everything was my fault as if I was the bad person when I was in the right the whole time and they knew they were in the wrong completely and that they were stealing money from me off of my credit card without authorization which is why they kicked me out and would not let me stay there anymore because I made them call their higher up manager to have my money put back on my card which the general manager agreed and said to refund it on speakerphone for the credit card company to hear and everybody else standing in the room which there were witnesses other than me and the desk clerk and the cameras and the credit card company on speakerphone with his the desk clerk's boss on speakerphone so everybody could hear everybody hung up with his boss and said that he did not have the numbers to refund the money that the credit card company needed and refused to give them to him so I can get my money back and then kick me out I will be contacting my lawyers because this is still not resolved and I do not have my money put back on my card that they had charged it for from the 31st until the 4th of November. and then they made me switch rooms twice the first time from the 31st until Monday the 2nd I was in room 307 then I was kicked out and moved to room 207 after they took my payment and sent it to Kansas and did not refund it so I can use it for the room. I cannot believe the staff and the service and the attitude that I received the entire time I was there one of them couldn't even understand English whatsoever the desk lady was not even there and the male desk clerk was no better. now just to be able to stop them from constantly charging my card I'm having to call and cancel my card completely and all together and have to f****** replace it with a new one to my credit card company because they won't stop charging my card. I spoke with customer service and this is supposed to be handled it was not handled it was never handled they were supposed to get back with me to make sure everything was taken care of and no one ever did from customer service or any of their supervisors so unless this is handled by Sunday Monday this coming week I'm going and I'm getting a lawyer and so is my credit card company and I'm going after them for theft and fraud slander defamation of character credit card fraud demeaning behavior towards me,physical and mental abuse and stress, racism, unsanitary room conditions. Especially for Covid 19. I have been sick ever since I stayed in the two different rooms, which has been a hazard to my health completely. Seeing how I was never sick before I arrived to check in. I got sick during my stay and I'm still having health issues from my stay there. And here it is Friday and still no one from super 8's supervisors and customer care service has tried contacting me to resolve the credit card issue and the room stay issue or the health hazards whatsoever I've already contacted a lawyer I'm going to see the doctor next week for the appointment and if it's still not resolved by then I will see them in court.

When we arrived in our room, it was obvious the room had never been cleaned before our arrival. Toilet was filthy, stains on carpet and comforter. Coffee maker but no coffee. Requested nonsmoking room and smelled like cigarette smoke. Bathroom sink area and shower had not been clean and no tissues in dispenser. Ice machine was broken.

Hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. Check-in girl did not know what she was doing. She was more interested in talking to someone on her cell phone. Magnetic key to to room did not work. Breakfast area had only two tables. Rooms had old cathode tube TV's. The HVAC unit would blow the window curtains straight out. Carpets were dirty. This motel should not be part of a national chain.

Super 8 Independence hotel is located off Route 160 / 75 in southeast Kansas. Our Independence, KS, hotel near Independence Historical Museum puts the outdoor activities of Elk City Reservoir within easy reach.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

From historic sites to outdoor activities, there is no shortage of things to see and do near our Independence, Kansas, hotel.
