1)“CLEAN FOR THE COMMUNITY “ PROJECTAs Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul , we already have several projects regarding Responsible Business.One of the most important one is “ Clean for the Community “ Project. On a quarterly bases Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul Executive Committee members , Managers and staff voluntarily clean the whole Beyoglu area including famous Taksim square and Taksim Park which is very well known by the locals. Also in the spring season we plant 2000 tulips in Taksim Park and surrounding areas. We work together with The City of Beyoglu - Istanbul Parks and Recreation department who provides us gloves , garbage bags and gardening equipment to complete this project.We felt Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul has made a great difference in the Community and continues to take pride in the success of this project. 2)“CEYLAN INTERCONTINENTAL 7 TREE FORESTS “ PROJECTAs Ceylan InterContinental Hotel we believe in the kind relationship between Human andNature therefore we base our philosophy on the collaboration with nature. Apart from our delicate vision of architecture we believe in investing on mother earth.Therefore we started to work with CEKUL ( The Foundation for the Promotion and Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage ) on this project.The Foundation for the Promotion and Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ÇEKÜL) strives to foster and build a nation-wide awareness and social network for the preservation and protection of Turkey’s environmental resources and cultural heritage. Founded in 1990 by 25 professors and experts from various academic and cultural fields, ÇEKÜL has become one of the largest non-governmental organizations of Turkey with 100 representatives throughout the country along with nearly 650,000 participants involved in various projects and an advisory board of 700 specialists.7 Tree Forests Program“7 Tree Forests”, which started out as a regular afforestration project, became the leading program of ÇEKÜL for all afforestration and reforestration activities and campaigns. Inspired by the fact that each individual consumes approximately 7 trees in their lifetime, the program aims to increase awareness about deforestration and desertification. At least 7 trees are planted for each participant of the campaign every year. An individualized gift certificate or postcard giving ownership of ''7 Trees'' are provided to people (whom ÇEKÜL calls ‘participants’) who wish to plant trees or have trees planted as a gift for special occasions such as births, anniversaries etc. Trees are planted with the coordination of ÇEKÜL in partnership with the Ministry of Forestry and Environment on the behalf of each participant. Every year, the participants (gift givers and receivers) are invited to visit the afforestration areas where tree planting festivals are organized. Since the initiation of the program in 1993, afforestration in Istanbul, Marmaris, Antalya, Sivas and Urfa-Harran has been realized with more than 2.5 million trees planted with the participation of around 600.000 individuals. Within the program, awareness campaigns for afforestration and reforestration are also organized (i.e. 122.000 trees in total were planted in Diyarbakir Tigris University campus, also around highways in Istanbul through another campaign).As a true believer of this project Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul decided to donate 231 saplings to CEKUL each year.With this way CEKUL will plant these saplings in the name of Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul for the next generations.3)TEMATEMA is an NGO whose mission is to fight erosion of the land and plant trees to help fight global warming. In our offices we have boxes for recyclable paper. Paper collected is regularly donated to TEMA. In exchange TEMA plants trees in areas of the country where there is need for forestation.4) WASTE OILIn the context of our cooperation with the municipality we started to collect our waste oils instead of leaving to the dispel .We collected 5200 kg waste oil during this process
