Given DuBois' reputation as a haven for nature lovers, hikers, hunters, and everyone else seeking the quietness of the outdoors, the city's peak tourist season is in the summer. Hotel rates are higher during this time, but DuBois doesn't experience a large influx of tourists like Pittsburg or Cleveland, so you can still find vacancies even if you don't book a room in advance. Still, try to reserve your hotel a few weeks ahead of time to save money.
The best time to visit DuBois is in the spring and fall when temperatures are pleasant but local attractions aren't crowded. High temperatures average around 70 degrees in May and September, which is ideal for outdoor recreation. Just be sure to pack a few light layers in case evening temperatures get chilly.
Winters in DuBois are cold and prone to snowfall. If you need to visit the area from November through early March, book refundable accommodations and flights to be on the safe side.
