"poor review of room is not reflection of staff."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
We stayed nights of 8/4 and 8/5. Last minute booking due to the hundreds of cancelled flights due the storm in the Southeast U.S. Staff was very small and understandably overwhelmed. Drinks, snacks and other amenities for a week were gone in seconds. Choas ensued as people that were scheduling online or phone still had to wait hours for a room, then many still had to get in line again to actually check in. Also, to compound the issue, many occupants on rooms who were due to check out at three now found their flights cancelled and were refusing to leave their rooms. At one point, I counted nearly 55 people in line or in the lounge/breakfast area waiting. Quite a lot for a relatively small hotel and likely a small mid day Sunday staff. Let us be clear, the one staff member at the desk had to deal with all this plus phone ringing constantly. They did well. I wanted to present this to tell u how bad it really was, but staff held their cool. As for the room (#310) itself, it was clean no issue there but well below what we expected for a hotel in the Hilton family. There was rust on drains and faucets, issues with the shade, the large wooden cabinet being used for desk, TV stand, fridge and microwave was warped, splintering and legs ready to go any minute. The old A/C/heat unit casing was dented, cracked and coming apart in several areas. There is no closet, iron, etc. Just some shelving on the wall adjacent to the window with a few hangers and covered by a drape over the entire outside wall. Various spot of broken tile. Other comments would include no vending machines on any floors, very bad carpeting condition, trees overgrown onto many windows. one of two computers for clients to use were down at a very unfortunate time.
