'There is no theory to art. It is the language that everyone speaks and everyone surely understands!, - Aart Schouman (Famous Flemish Painter born in Dordrecht).
The quote presented above says a lot about the realities of life as seen by us “ the human species “ in as few words as one possibly could dare say. Like Schouman, there have been dozens of notable artists, thinkers and scientists gifted to the world by Dordrecht, a rather understated city in Netherlands.
Dordrecht is located in the western parts of Netherlands, in South Holland Province. Most notable for its various historic monuments and buildings, it is also a city that has been blessed with abundant natural beauty and an inherent sense of peace that many tourists come from around the world in order to enjoy.
It is rather amusing to note that this sense of peace that we are discussing here prevails despite the fact that Dordrecht has been at the center of many violent events in the Middle Ages as well as the modern ages. Accepting that irony of nature, it would rather be appreciable for us to admire the variety and diversity with which Dordrecht has managed to rise from the depths of violence to the heights of prosperity.
What tourists can achieve from Dordrecht is not just limited to visual or sensory perceptions. A trip to Dordrecht can be quite illuminating apart from those, or in addition to those. So, calling for a bold step from our readers who take great pleasure and passion in travelling, we would love to present this nifty compilation of various hotels in Dordrecht for the sake of convenience of planning and surety of itineraries.
Looking for Cheap Hotels in Dordrecht
Netherlands is one of the most advanced countries in Europe. It is usually considered by many to be a safe haven for families, with very low unemployment rates, high standards of living, great education centers, high level of literacy and low crime rates. All these things combine together to create a picture in which property prices are sky high and living cost suddenly becomes prohibitive. This holds true even in the rural areas of the country, and the urban areas, quite predictably, are best not discussed.
Since Dordrecht is a fairly urban part of the country, hotel tariffs here tend to be on the higher side, as compared to prices offered by similar establishments elsewhere in Europe (barring more expensive countries like France or Switzerland). So, finding cheap hotels becomes a somewhat losing cause.
But still, without giving up on the task at hand, we have managed to unearth some hidden gems of cheap hotels that can be found in Dordrecht.
Bed and Breakfast di Luthiers is the first among these. It is a sensational option, given the kind of tariff plans it offers. With nightly prices starting at $70, it surely is one of the best maintained and most accessible hotels in Dordrecht.
Kop van het Land follows B&B di Luthiers, and how! It is a beautiful boutique hotel that can still be considered quite cheap, provided that you don't visit during high-summer!
Taking Things a Notch Up: Luxury Hotels in Dordrecht
Moving on from budget options, let's discuss briefly luxury and extravagant Dordrecht hotels that have the potential to turn an ordinary trip into an extra-ordinary memory that you can cherish for the whole of your life!
Among the ones that can be counted under this head, the one that ended up being on top of most competitors (based on a variety of criteria that we use for the purposes of comparison) is Villa Augustus. While not really a hotel per se, it is a rather aristocratic home turned into a luxury villa that can help you live really regal life for a while. Blessed with rich tapestry of history and beauty, staying in Dordrecht cannot get grander or more impressive than staying at Villa Augustus!
A more modern options is provided by Van der Valk Hotel Dordrecht. It is a posh and 20th century hotel that blends luxury of all sorts with convenience and warm hospitality quite perfectly. Prices usually start at around $200 per night, going up based on the time of the year and the kind of suite you will be choosing.
Independent and Boutique Hotels in Dordrecht
While conceding the fact that staying at a hotel usually saves tourists from a lot of hassle and headache, it should also be admitted that not all tourists are in the favor of choosing a hotel over a more flexible and customisable lodging option like a boutique hotel.
It's true that boutique and independent hotel establishments are usually overprices (and that's the case pretty much all around the world, not just in Dordrecht), it should also be understood that they end up being quite cost effective in the long run, if you plan on extending your stay over two weeks.
Among boutique Dordrecht hotels, the best ones are usually located on the outskirts of the city. Many of these are holiday rentals and summers homes.
