'Melancholy is sadness that has taken on lightness.,- believes Italo Calvino, a famous novelist of Sardinian descent.
Sardinia is a beautiful island, an autonomous region in Italy. It is officially known as Regione Autonoma della Sardegna. The second largest island located along the Mediterranean Sea, it comes after the island of Sicily and is followed by Cyprus. Another beautiful island, that of Corsica is nearby, and is separated from Sardegna by the Strait of Bonifacio. Caligari, a historic town, is the capital city of this island. Caligari happens to be a major tourist attraction. Sardegna or Sardinia is a lesser known island; hardly a handful of people know about it, except of course globe trotters who travel to lands that have not been explored before. But it has to be admitted that the entire landscape, the history and the culture of Sardinia is an extremely interesting one.
