Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, is a suburban area that sits just 45 kilometers (28 miles) to the northwest of Montreal. The city is on the Riviere du Nord and is a gateway area to the Laurentian Mountains and the various resorts that reside in that area. The town is named after a church father, Saint Jerome, who is known for translating the Bible from Hebrew and Greek into Latin. The translation is known as the Vulgate among religious communities.

In 1752, colonists came to the region and established the town. The Catholic parish was constructed in 1834, and the village became official in 1845. Before that, it was a farming area that didn't have a name. With the development of roads and the railroad, both people and industries began to flock to the area and caused the town to flourish.

Within the city limits of Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, is a Roman Catholic cathedral, which has a small museum in it, and this is a highly beautiful and popular attraction. The modern art museum, Vieux Palais, and the local public library are also well visited. Another major attraction is the statue of Antoine Labelle who was important to the region's history as the person responsible for settling the area. There's also a regional shopping mall, an indoor arena, and in the summer, several area festivals in the area.

When Should You Visit St. Jerome, QC?

The average temperatures in Canada vary quite a bit based on the time of year and even the region in question. In Quebec, you will get humidity and temperatures that are rather warm or very cold, depending on the season. The warmest time to visit is late July through August. The temperatures hit 75 degrees on most days and don't drop below about 56 degrees at night.

If you prefer dry conditions, visit the region in early February, April, or January to see the lowest chances of snow or rain. The rainy days start in July and August, but snowfall is usually heaviest late in February.

Many tourists want to avoid heavy crowds, but tourism is at its height in the summer months: July and August. Hotel prices and flights are the most expensive during that time period, as well. Booking those items in advance can help to save money, but things will still be more costly. The least expensive month is December when tourists are least likely to come to the area.
