The Holiday Inn Panama City Beach is a big hotel with big potential. The staff is friendly, they have the facilities to accommodate and entertain any group type, they are located close to shopping, dining and entertainment and their rates are a refreshing break from their sky high beach counterparts. All they need is a little bit of the Holiday Inn re imaging to add a modern touch to their classic Florida design. Coffee and tea are available all day at no charge. There is ample free parking. The rooms are spacious and divided among two wings. They have one of the best gyms I've ever seen in a hotel that is not four star rated. It includes a wet and dry sauna! The Holiday Inn Select has an indoor pool and hot tub. They have a variety of banquet and meeting spaces that can accommodate multiple layouts. All soft goods and furnishings are newer, but guests staying should be on the lookout for the famous (or is it infamous?) red tubs. Yes, the bathtubs are red. Be wary of textured walls and ceilings in guest rooms. I do hope they keep the old school charm of their lounge, with an original solid mahogany bar, colorful Tiffany style lamps and hex tile flooring. There multiple fountains in the lobby which seemed like a good concept at the time but have a tendency to be loud and obstruct energy and traffic flow in the restaurant and banquet spaces. But this hotel is a caterpillar awaiting metamorphosis! She will soon be brought up to new glory and will easily become the gem of the Panama City mainland. Her team is excited for the new changes, expecting completion by Spring Break 2015. If your group needs AFFORDABLE QUALITY with the amenities not available at her limited service counterparts, you would do well to visit the HOLIDAY INN SELECT.
