Discover Delightful Experiences: Entertaining Things to Do in Uniontown, WA

Step back in time and discover the intriguing past of Uniontown, WA, a destination with roots that reach back to the tumultuous days of the American Civil War. Its first settler, Thomas Freeborn Montgomery, sought respite from the harsh realities of the war in 1863 and found solace in the western expanse three years later. In 1874, he claimed his homestead and, four years later, ensured the establishment of a post office, marking the town's emergence on the map. Uniontown's naming was a point of contention until 1879, when a Jesuit priest, Joseph Cataldo, proposed the name "Uniontown", inspired by a local creek and flat bearing the same name. Montgomery was known for his combative nature, resulting in strained relations with local businesses and even leading to relocations to nearby Colton. Montgomery's strong presence in Uniontown's real estate sector remained until his untimely passing in 1883 following a fatal dispute. Seven years later, in 1890, the town was officially incorporated, solidifying its place in history. This location, steeped in perseverance, offers an enriching experience for those who appreciate the past.
