The Minocqua center point is approximately 1 mile southwest of Wildwood Wildlife Park and 2 miles west of Holiday Acres Recreational Park.
There are no right or wrong answers to this question and much of it relies on what travelers want to do when they are in the area. There's a business strip that runs through the downtown that contains many tourist attractions and plenty of restaurants and shopping. There's a parade every year on the Fourth of July and plenty of festivals between. Downtown merchants hold the Beef-a-Rama in September that brings in lots of visitors and the rifle and bow hunting seasons also bring plenty of visitors.
Minocqua is a forested lake community so there are a lot of summer activities to enjoy such as boating, hiking, hike riding, swimming, water skiing, and berry collecting. Summer is the most popular time to visit the area and, therefore, when people run into the highest prices. The summer temperatures are milder than they are in other arefas of the country, but can still get rather hot. Minocqua is actually home to one of the oldest amateur water ski teams in the country, the Min-Aqua Bats.
Fall brings the hunters to the forests and the chill in the air doesn't stop anyone from having a good time. Spring is pleasant and offers plenty of indoor activities to enjoy. The Campanile Center for the Arts, for example, offers an array of high-quality art to intrigue audiences. Winter is the least visited time of the year because of the cold and snow, but it is the best time to get a good deal on hotel rates because there aren't as many people around.

The Great Northern Motel is a unique location 24 miles away from Minocqua in Mercer. The motel is 15 minutes of walking away from Grand Portage Lake as well as Mercer Depot Museum. Carow Park is just a mile and a half away as well. The beautiful views from the motel make it feel even more valuable than its location is to the convenient sites around it.
There are a lot of things to see and do in the area, depending on what time of the year you travel, but most visitors and residents alike say you simply cannot miss out on exploring Bearskin State Trail. The beautiful trail is great for walking, hiking, biking, or riding a snowmobile in the winter. There are marshlands, trees, wildlife, and much more and the trail doesn't loop back so visitors can walk as far as they'd like without seeing the same thing twice.
Lake Tomahawk is a small town within Minocqua that offers everything small towns have today. There are ice cream shops, restaurants, and plenty of peace. The tiny town is best known for its baseball team that plays with snowshoes during the winter months. That's a unique sight itself. With fishing lakes nearby, there's something for everyone in this small area of the state.
