When you're planning a trip to Petoskey, it's important to find the perfect hotel to suit your needs. Whether you're coming to enjoy the lake in the summer or have fun on the ski slopes in the winter, Petoskey has the ideal hotel that will fit within your budget and offer all the amenities you want.

When to Visit Petoskey, MI

Deciding on the best time to visit Petoskey depends entirely on what you plan to do while you're there. Summer is the most popular time to travel to the area, and if you're interested in spending time on the lake and enjoying all its activities, this is when you want to go. The time between June and August sees average highs in the lower to mid-70s Fahrenheit and average lows in the mid-50s. Because this is high tourist season, expect to pay more for a hotel room.

September through November bring cooler temperatures, yet plenty of visitors still come to the area to take in the stunning fall colors. If you plan to travel to Petoskey during this time, make sure you pack layers. While average highs in September start out in the 60s, by November highs have dropped into the 40s and lows can dip into the 30s.

While winter in Petoskey brings plenty of snow and cold temperatures, if you're interested in hitting the slopes at nearby ski resorts, this is the time of year to plan your vacation. However, with average highs in December through March hovering in the 20s and 30s, you still need to make sure you pack warm clothes.

Spring is one of the best times to get a good hotel deal in Petoskey. In April and May, the snow is melting, so the winter sports enthusiasts no longer flock to the area for their fun. However, with highs in the 50s and 60s, it's still a little too cool to enjoy everything the lake has to offer, and summer crowds haven't arrived yet.
