The popular and championship winning American basketball player Tim Duncan, who was born in St Thomas once said 'I enjoy jokes, smiling, and making people smile. I may be a little different, but that's OK, who wants to be normal anyway?,
This sort of light-hearted mirthful way of living is a big part of how life is lived on the island and you can even see this in the hotels in St Thomas. This is one of the main U.S. Virgin Islands in the Caribbean and a popular destination for ocean travelers and cruise lines which is why it is infinitely accommodating to those venturing by sea. In the 1600s, this was a Danish colony but today its stands out as a jewel of the sea.
A Budget Gem
Even though this island of St Thomas is one of the more popular locations amongst luxury cruises there are plenty of relatively cheap hotels on the island for those looking to save some money. One of them is the Sapphire Village Resort by Antilles Resorts, St. Thomas. This place is filled with some pretty fine amenities though it is on the lower end of the pricing spectrum it still offers some things you might not find anywhere else that include a marina, Wi-Fi in the lobby, 24-hour front desk service, 95 condos, and Car rentals on site. Another one of the cheap hotels on the island is the Galleon House Bed Breakfast Inn, St. Thomas. This hotel features things like Wi-Fi in the lobby, air conditioning, a picnic area and a nearby beach.
An Island of Riches
It's no surprise that an island like St Thomas would have a whole myriad of fine luxury hotels in St Thomas that are made to appeal to those looking for more upscale experiences while relaxing on the island. One of the more popular hotels of a high standard on the island is The Westin St. John Villas. This hotel is located right near the Honeymoon Beach and it features a nice comforting beach front and it is a few miles from Coral World Ocean Park. The hotel offers mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Another one of the St Thomas luxury hotels is the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. This hotel is located on 30 acres and looks down on the Great Bay. The hotel features Italian linens, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and balconies.
So Much to See and Do
While there are a lot of more party orientated things to do that can be reached from most St Thomas hotels, there are other things that put people right into the heart of nature. First is taking part in the many boat tours around the island. The majority of the tours are very laid back, but you are surrounded by nature and you can see sides of the island that are not visible from the beach. Many of the people who conduct the tours know exactly where to go to give you the best views and if you are into snorkeling many of them offer that service as well. The snorkeling adventures can take you up to 30 feet down into the wondrous world beneath the sea.
