This was a very cool experience! The hotel is very clean and it felt like we were on the Titanic. It takes you back to a prior time with all of the antiques. The location is great and there are wonderful views of the Ohio River. It was a very neat experience. The employees were very kind and accommodating. I would stay there again because it was very clean and the location was perfect.

It really has that old hotel feeling and that's a good thing. Right on the river and an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Great in hotel bar with friendly staff and delicious food served in the bar overlooking the river. And free breakfast! Our room has quiet.

I like older hotels with a lot of character. The breakfast was top notch with way too much food for one person but it was tasty. The staff I interacted with were all nice and professional.

We chose the Lafayette on the basis of its location right on the river. Because of the layout of the hotel and annex I think almost every room has a river view and there's a park right outside the door and you are literally steps from the river. It's an old hotel but NOT A BIT shabby. Our room had great mattresses and a brand new and spotlessly clean bathroom. We lucked out in that our third floor room was right around the corner from the stairs to the roof terrace with tables and chairs and nicely and planted with well tended impatiens around the edges and views of town and river. The food in the Lounge and Gun Room restaurants was good but there are also restaurants from brewpubs to fine dining a short walk away. Excellent boat watching and never having to use the car for our whole three day stay made this a perfect location for us. Staff was always friendly and helpful. We couldn't have had a better experience.

We had one of the larger rooms, a parlor room and it was worth the extra money (which wasn't much). We were very comfortable. Our breakfast experience was great. There were 8 of us and the service (thanks Claudia) and the food were excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

One of the last riverboat-era hotels, it opened on July 1, 1918, and was named in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette, who visited the city in 1825 at a site near the hotel. An 11-foot pilot wheel from the steamboat J. D. Ayres is featured the lobby. The Lafayette hotel overlooks the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers and is in the heart of historic downtown Marietta. We have 77 unique guest rooms, Gun Room Restaurant & Riverview Lounge and beautiful banquet facilities. Other features include room service, laundry and free airport shuttle service to Wood County Airport.The Lafayette Offers a delicate blend of the past and the present.
