'No better remedy than education exists for doggedness. The more things we allow to offend us, the more intolerant we become. It's in the best interest of a people “ if history is any indication at all “ that one man lives in peace with another. Fights and skirmishes take us nowhere but backwards.,
Onat Kutlar, a famed Turkish author, poet and political activist, thus wrote of his views regarding intolerance in modern world and difficulty that people usually face in understanding and accepting cultures other than their own.
While this has become a burning issue all over the world, our discussion will bear a more casual note. The reason to quote Mr Kutlar at the introduction of this article is that he was one of the most famous men who ever lived in the great city of Antalya (Turkey).
Antalya is not just a huge city (over 1.2 million people are estimated to reside here), but it is also a hugely popular city, too. Attractive over 3 million tourists from around the world every year without fail, Antalya has made sure that it remains one of those must-visit places in the country.
Geographically speaking, the curiously blessed location of the city is equally responsible the rise of Antalya on the horizon of tourism. It is the largest city in the Province of Antalya, and also the capital of the said province. It is also the most-populous city on the Mediterranean Coast of Western Turkey, and arguably, the most industrially developed one, as well.
All these laurels come together brilliantly to create a picture so bright that one isn't left any option but to visit Antalya in person. That's what we hope you'd be doing soon “ and in that excitement, we are much too thrilled to present to you this quick article detailing the state of various Antalya hotels!
Finding Cheap Lodges and Hotels in Antalya
As many of our readers would be quite aware, Turkey is a country that has been always at the epicentre of global politics in one way or another. From religious reasons to geo-political ones, the tug of war for power has always “ by various twists of fate “ found a way to Turkey.
A good effect of this attention has been that Turkey has perennially been a country that is always on the rise. But a side-effect of the same argument can be perceived as the fact that Turkey has always fallen frustratingly short of being a developed country.
Because of this quasi-static development, it is understandable that the inflation levels in Turkey are modest, and it's not really expensive to live in most parts of the country. Antalya, even though not the cheapest place to live in Turkey, thus makes it easier for tourists and business travelers visiting the city to take shelter at one of her cheap hotels so that they don't have to burn glaring holes in their pockets!
Blue Sea Garden and Hotel Karyatit are two among various cheap hotels that we came across in and around Antalya. The reason to choose these two particular options are manifold. But the highest weight was given to three factors “ convenience, comfort levels and market reputation.
Another option worthy of your time and efforts is Hotel Frankfurt in Antalya. The name is rather eccentric “ especially because the hotel seems to have no connection with Frankfurt, at all “ but it's a good pick, considering low tariffs and good word of mouth.
Luxury Resorts in Antalya
Being a city by the Mediterranean Sea automatically makes Antalya a city of luxury resorts “ the kind of resorts that leave no trick in the book untried so as to please their patrons!
Almost every notable chain of resorts that operates globally has one or more resorts running here. From Sofitel to InterContinental and from Mandarin Oriental to Hilton, the list of luxury hotels in Antalya just goes on and on.
But besides these, there are quite a few resorts that have been developed completely locally. Rixos Lares, for example, is one of its kind Mediterranean hotel that can help you relax in style while enjoying beautifully breath-stealing views of the sea.
Mardan Palace is a literally palatial hotel that can give you a whiff of royal life that you would find very hard to part from!
Alternative Lodging Options in Antalya
Apart from luxury and budget hotels in Antalya, very few other options are available for tourists to draw from.
There do exist some holiday rentals and summer houses on the outskirts of the city and along the stretches of beaches, but these are often rented out privately, and it becomes a hassle for tourists to track down the owners and actually strike a deal with them.
Studio apartments can be rented “ especially in the downtown part of the Metro Area. These can be quite cost effective alternatives for Antalya hotels, if you are planning on staying for longer than two weeks!
Handling over 20 million people every year, Antalya Airport is one of the largest in Turkey. It is located at a distance of roughly 10 miles from the city center, and can be easily accessed by road.
The area surrounding the airport is usually owned by local municipalities of neighboring villages, meaning that it is much too improbable for tourists to find lodging places near the airport.
A few airlines operate their own lodges in the vicinity of the airport, but you need to be a ticket-holding flyer to avail their services.
Weather in Antalya
Antalya weather is the best a city aspiring to be the tourism capital of the country can hope to get.
Throughout the year, it's balmy and pleasant over here, with the Mediterranean breeze keeping things cooler during summer months. Rainfall is scarce in this part of the world, and perhaps, that acts as a blessing in disguise for the city, as it can further stretch its tourism quarters.
Months of May and June are often considered to be the best ones to travel to Antalya.
