'The pain passes, but the beauty remains, said Pierre Auguste Renoir, the famous painter from Limoges, France. Turbulent times have passed by for the city but much beauty still exists for those who want to see it. Hotels in Limoges reflect the style of the country and range from charming budget hotels to elegant luxury hotels.
Where to stay when on a budget
Cheap hotels in Limoges offer much value for your money without sacrificing quality and comfort. Inter Hotel Arion is one of the best choices if you plan to stay for a short time or are just traveling on a budget. The rooms are clean and tidy and the breakfasts are well made. The hotel is placed just outside the city center alongside the main road leading into it. Noise is no issue, though you may want to try and get a room facing away from the road so as to eliminate the sound entirely.
The Bienvenue hotel is perfect if you are planning a trip through the city, as it is located on a business park just off of the motorway. The rooms are clean and adequate for a short stay and the car park is secure, so you don't have to worry about your vehicles overnight.
Premium class accommodation
When looking to stay for an extended period, you'll want to choose one of the more comfortable hotels in Limoges. The Mercure Royal Limousin is probably the best choice in the city. It is located in the heart of all the city's nicest places while remaining quiet and peaceful. The Wi-Fi is excellent and first class room service will make it hard to leave this hotel. The rooms are non-smoking so they will be clean and you won't have to worry if you have allergies. Be careful if you need wheelchair access though as you must navigate steps to gain entrance.
The Novatel hotel in Limoges is equally suited to a comfortable stay. It is situated next to a lake, which has many walking trails in the forest that surrounds it. Located outside the city but still within comfortable driving or even walking distance, this hotel offers free parking to make it that much easier. Limoges hotels often suffer from a lack of free parking, so this hotel is a great choice if you plan to stay for more than a few nights.
Independent and boutique options in Limoges
Some cheap hotels can offer a great experience in terms of character. That is definitely the case regarding the Hotel De La Paix. This hotel is in the heart of the city and extremely close to the local rail station for convenience. Although it is outdated, the charm of this place is undeniable.
Hotel De Paris is another lovely independent hotel which offers buckets of charm. Also located in the city center, this hotel offers slightly more modern bathrooms and more luxuriously decorated rooms. The ceilings throughout are very high, as well as the windows. This will provide you with a spacious feel and plenty of light during the day, and a fantastic view overnight. Free parking and Wi-Fi are available in both of these Limoges hotels, a must for an extended stay.
