'There's a certain kind of romance to this place. You don't need any company other than your own to truly enjoy here in Tenerife.,
George Clooney, one of the most popular Hollywood stars of modern times, is a frequent visitor to Tenerife, and expressed his feeling about the place in the words quoted above.
Well, he is spot on in his assessment of this place that attracts more than five million tourists (and counting!) every year to its beautiful Mediterranean shores and umpteen luxury villas.
Tenerife is the largest island that constitutes the archipelago of Canary Islands. Located at a short distance off the coast of Morocco in the Mediterranean Sea, Tenerife is a Spanish constituency, and one of the most important offshore Spanish dominions. It also happens to be the most popular tourist destination in all of Canary Islands, generating over $10 bn in revenues solely through tourism and hospitality.
The north of the island is loaded with exotic gardens, public parks and historic settlements that have played a significant part in the way the surrounding areas have shaped up. On the other hand, the south of the island is given to more 'entertaining' factors, such as tropical beaches and aqua-centric theme parks and activities.
In a nutshell, if you are planning on visiting Tenerife soon enough, you will have a lot to look forward to. Before that, however, you need to know some basic pointers about various hotels in Tenerife and what you can expect from them.
Cheap Lodging in Tenerife
Many tourists would agree with the fact that the more tourist-centric a destination is, the more difficult it is to find truly cheap hotels. In that way, it is sort of tough to find a hotel that wouldn't burn a glaring hole in your pocket in Canary Island (Tenerife included).
But as the old adage goes, if there's a will, there's always a way. So, once you care enough about your tour expenses to scratch a little deeper than the superficial deals offered to you, you might be surprised to know that there are quite a few cheap hotels out here that can help you save big.
Among these, El Sombrero in Los Gigantes is a definitive representation of the best budget hotel. Located in the vicinity of all transport facilities, El Sombrero offers amazing deals to its guests, ensuring that money would be the last things holding them back from enjoying their Tenerife trip.
In Adeje, Sol Sun Beach plays a similar role, offering neatly furnished rooms at reasonable prices to its patrons.
Going The Luxurious Way in Tenerife
There has to be no doubt over the fact that the best way to well and truly savor a place like Tenerife is by availing the best of facilities that it has to give you.
In that sense, luxury hotels in Tenerife are the finest of their kind, at par with the best in the world. You can expect the highest level of comfort and hospitality from these, albeit at high costs.
Take Hotel Tigaiga, for example. Right from picking you up from the airport to dropping you off and waving you a goodbye, the hotel staff take every care to make sure that your stay goes as planned, without any hiccups and certainly with a lot of lavish comforts.
If you love gardens, Hotel Botanical and Oriental Spa Garden is the one to watch out for. It is a theme spa and resort that is as green as it can get.
Similarly, Hotel Suite Villa Maria and Hotel Royal Garden Villas are two more names that can guarantee comfort for you, for as long as you wish to enjoy laidback life in Tenerife.
Top Things to Do and See in Tenerife
Apart from beaches, cocktails, impervious tans and a general sense of calm, there's a lot that you can do and see when you are visiting Tenerife.
Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion “ the most impressive church building in all of Canary Islands “ is definitely a top pick among these. Blessed with a peace that churches and cathedrals of the yore usually boast of, this church is most famous for its magnificent bell tower.
The Museum of Natural History and Archaeology is another popular tourist attraction in Tenerife, most lauded for its excellent collection and presentation of remarkable specimens that speak history through their presence.
Tito's Bodeguita is the place to be, if you are attracted by traditional royal mansions that come fully equipped with large patios, tropical gardens, water fountains and exotic decor. For the lovers of performance arts, a trip to (better with a ticket) the Tenerife Arts Auditorium can be worth the while, especially there's an opera slated to perform.
Risco Belle Aquatic Gardens provide a natural retreat from the hustle of beaches, fully functional with tropical plant species.
Hotels in The Vicinity of The Airport
Despite its modest stretch of land, Tenerife is served by two fully-fledged airports that are equally busy in handling traffic. Tenerife North Airport is closer to Santa Cruz while Tenerife South is closer to other parts of Canary Islands.
In the context of convenience, both of the airports are fairly easily accessible and hence, do not pose a specific need for tourists to find Tenerife hotels that will make it even easier for them to access these airports.
In general, as a rule of thumb, it can be observed that finding a cheap hotel in the vicinity of an airport is much harder than finding a luxury hotel.
Most Suitable Time to Visit Tenerife
As noted earlier, Tenerife is also known as the Island of Eternal Spring, meaning that it's a good time to visit here pretty much all year round.
July, August (summer time) and December, January (holidays) are two of the busiest seasons in Tenerife's calendar. So, to avoid excessive airfares and room tariff hikes imposed by many Tenerife hotels, it is the best idea to avoid these busy months, so that you can enjoy this exotic island at cheap prices and in relative peace.
