Johann Bessel, an influential German philosopher who spent much of his life studying the way religion and philosophy work together, was born in Buchen. At one time, while teaching his pupils about the importance of thinking right, he notes:
'Thinking is where things are fated. If you think right, you will do right. If you don't, you won't. It might appear too simplistic, but it's not. It's the way world works, in my opinion at any rate.,
The reason to note these words here is to emphasize the contribution that even the smallest and most insignificant of places can have on people's thinking processes. Bessel, by no means, was an insignificant philosopher. However, the fact that he attributed a lot of his idea to the way he was brought up in Buchen allow one to conjecture about the nature of the place itself.
Buchen has changed a lot in the centuries that followed the lifetime of Bessel. There have been more than a handful of revolts, more than a dozen wars, quite a few upheavals and innumerable permanent transformations. Buchen, however, hasn't changed much at its core. This is perhaps the only reason why the city manages to attract the number of people it does, year in and year out.
If you are travelling to Buchen, you are already likely to be thinking about whether there are any cheap hotels and whether the city really has much to offer in way of tourism. Let's address these queries in a stepwise manner.
Budget Hotels in Buchen
To put it in the simplest of words imaginable, it is next to impossible to find a hotel that is well and truly cheap in Buchen. This has much to do with the fact that Buchen is not really a tourist magnet, and a majority of tourists who do end up in Buchen are there to either take some time off their busy lives or to study the historical significance of Buchen in national scheme of things.
Because of this, if you go out looking for cheap hotels after arriving in Buchen, you are more than likely to stare disappointment straight into eyes. The only way one can hope to save big on their stay in Buchen is to book a hotel well in advance to avail from early bird offers.
If it comes as any consolation, despite not having too many affordable hotels in Buchen, travelers do not necessarily have to dole out heavy sums in order to live at a luxury hotel. Instead, they can choose to stay with an independent hotel that costs much less.
Finding Luxury in Obscurity
Buchen, unlike most other more popular tourist spots in Germany, is a city that revels in hiding just under the surface, in obscurity that's comforting as well as enhancing. In that sense, a trip to Buchen can only mean that you get to fully unwind to face the ordeals of routine life and mundane troubles once you finish your trip and head back home.
The best way to make the most of your trip to Buchen, then, becomes to choose a luxury hotel for the duration of your stay in Buchen. Agreed that luxury Buchen hotels do not really fall under the radar of affordability for all tourists, it is still advised to further your trip budget in order to not miss out on fabulous life of relaxation that posh Buchen resorts have to offer you.
That said, it should also be noted here that Buchen does not really have a wide array of luxury resorts that you can choose one of your liking and taste from. There are only a handful that you will have to make do with. Among these handful of lavish hotels in Buchen, 'Interalpen' features right at the top of the list in terms of popularity, comfort level and extravagance. Featuring Mountain View suites, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with lounges and a full-fledged in-house spa mean that your stay at Interalpen can only be good, nay excellent!
Thigs Worth Seeing Around Buchen
In way of sightseeing, Buchen has one distinct advantage: it is well-connected to the Siegfried Way that features numerous historic and cultural sights of interest along its length.
Art lovers, however, can find a lot worth seeing in the city itself. The Regional Museum of Arts at Buchen is definitely one among the best in Germany. Although not at all comparable in terms of size or influence with other notable museums in bigger cities like Berlin or Hamburg, the Regional Museum of Arts at Buchen is still worth a visit, just because of an excellently documented collection of Kraus works that it houses.
Nature lovers and adventurers can head just south of the city to visit the famous stalactite caves. Formed over centuries, these caves feature beautiful and naturally crystalline columns of stalactite.
The Fastnacht event that is held in January is another must-attend events in Buchen.
