COMO Parrot Cay makes all of its water and electricity used to run the facility. A linen change program is available in all rooms for sheets and towels. Reusable water bottles in rooms, water coolers are located around the property. This has dramatically cut back on the number of plastic water bottles that are used on property. Water given during turn down in the evenings, bottles are made from recyclable plastic. The island has its own plantation, where we grow our own fruits which we serve to guests, the plantation include coconut, papaya, and bananas trees. The sprinkler system used for watering the gardens utilizes recycled water. A crop rotation program is in effect. Non toxic pesticides used for crops. Native species used for landscaping Pruned leaves are converted into mulch. Electric golf carts are predominantly used throughout the island. Recycling of paper program implemented in all offices. Pitchers of water are made available for meetings instead of bottled water. Pens and paper are centrally located on the table, instead of at each chair, so only those who need will take. Limitations on the number of packages permitted to be shipped for conferences and other events.
