Tucson is known for its hot summers and moderate winters, but its high elevation leads to slightly cooler and wetter weather than other Arizona locales. During the typical Tucson summer, you'll encounter daily highs around 100 degrees. July and August constitute the monsoon season, and each month has an average of 10 days of rain.

The spring and fall seasons tend to be mild, with highs in the low 80s or upper 70s and very little rain. Temperatures often dip into the 50s during the winter, though daily highs typically reach the mid-60s. Due to its elevation, Tucson also receives about a half inch of snow every winter.

If you want to see this Arizona city at its best, plan your visit during one of its family-friendly festivals. Every January, the Tucson Jazz Festival draws jazz musicians and fans from around the globe for a 10-day event. In February, La Fiesta de Los Vaqueros brings professional rodeo to Tucson, with saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, and team roping. In October, the Tucson Film and Music Festival attracts movie and music lovers, and the Winterhaven Festival of Lights will help you get in the holiday spirit throughout December.

Score 4.0 / 5

The resort had so much to offer, with my husbands limited mobility and the unseasonable hot temps we didn't do much site seeing. We drove to Mt. Lemmon. My husband loved it in spite of the heat, said he would be back just for the community.

Tucson has a lot to offer. The Pima Air and Space and Military Vehicles museums are amazing. The Titan Missle museum was also impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed the zoo and had fun in the parks with the kids. We also found many family friendly restaurants reasonably priced. A great time was had by all.
