When should you plan your trip to Whitefish, MT?

Whitefish has been developed as a fun resort town, so you'll be able to find loads of activities for the whole family no matter when you plan your visit. For the most part, however, the best time to travel to Whitefish is during the late spring or early summer after the warm temperatures come, but before the lodging costs increase. Specifically, hotel room prices in May and June are typically about 35 percent more affordable when compared to prices in July.

The peak summer travel time is where you'll find the highest prices with the most crowds. There's a good reason for all the traffic, though, as Whitefish features a multitude of exciting warm weather activities. You can go mountain biking or enjoy the beautiful waters of Whitefish City Beach. The weather is quite nice as well, with average temperatures in July around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. July also happens to get less rain than any other month of the year.

As a ski resort town, there's also a significant increase in lodging costs in the winter. In fact, December is the most costly time to visit. It is nearly three times as costly as the average price in May, the most affordable month. If you want to enjoy winter activities, you should try heading to Whitefish near the end of November, right when the snow starts to fall. Lodging should still be relatively affordable before it hits the massive increase in December. November also offers the benefit of being the least crowded month of the year.

If you do head to Whitefish in the winter, make sure you're prepared for snow. Precipitation in the winter months is significantly higher than it is during the summer. With temperatures ranging from an average 32 degrees in November to 22 degrees throughout December and January, you're going to be in for some snow no matter what.

What Whitefish hotels offer the best discounts?

Going on vacation is always satisfying, especially when you go to a beautiful place like Whitefish, but it's even more satisfying knowing you got an exceptional deal on your hotel. If you've ever served in the military, be sure to check out the Hampton Inn & Suites Whitefish. You can enjoy discounts up to 68 percent, along with some exciting amenities. The 24-hour airport shuttle can get you to your room with ease after you arrive where you'll find free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and special toiletries and hair dryers. In the morning you can enjoy free breakfast every day.

If you're an AAA member, you can enjoy discounts of 5 to 15 percent when you book at the Best Western Rocky Mountain Lodge. This hotel comes with a heated outdoor pool along with an available hot tub and exercise room. There's also complimentary transportation to and from the airport, along with anywhere else in a five-mile radius. The rooms are equipped with all the expected appliances in addition to a coffee maker. This hotel is wheelchair accessible and even pet-friendly, so don't hesitate to bring the whole family along — even the furry members!

Where are the best value options in Whitefish, MT?

Affordability in a hotel is always nice to have, but there's a certain appeal to luxury that can't really be denied. When you're torn between both worlds, it's sometimes best to opt for a mid-range option where you can get the most bang for your buck. One of the best options for that kind of experience is the Baymont by Wyndham Whitefish hotel. Just a short four-minute drive from Riverside Park, this hotel offers a convenient location and some exciting amenities like concierge services and a full complimentary breakfast every morning.

If you want to make the most out of your ski trip, The Pine Lodge on Whitefish River may be the hotel for you. It comes with free parking, free breakfast, and free WiFi for all guests, and that's just the start. It's just a short walk to Riverside Park and only 2.7 miles away from Whitefish Lake. If you're looking to go skiing, there is storage and passes available here along with a free ski shuttle. Inside your room, you'll find blackout curtains, an LCD TV with cable channels, a hairdryer, and more.

What should you do while visiting Whitefish, MT?

The biggest attraction in Whitefish is Big Mountain. On top of this mountain, you'll find great skiing opportunities along with numerous other activities you can enjoy all year long. You'll have plenty of opportunity to ride your bike through the thrilling mountain trails, or you can ski down the 2,353 feet of skiing area. If you're feeling particularly brave, give the Hellfire Trail a try for 3.3 miles of adrenaline-fueled winter excitement.

There's plenty more to Whitefish than the Mountain. Head over to the lake the town was named after, and enjoy the sandy beach complete with docks, gazebos, and picnic tables. You can even rent kayaks and paddleboards during the summer. Head to Whitefish in the springtime, and you can enjoy the Going-to-the-Sun Road. This road is closed to cars allowing you to ride your bike or walk to enjoy the adjacent river and breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

This is just a small taste of everything Whitefish has to offer. No matter what your interests are, you'll find something here to keep you entertained for a long while whether it's thrilling outdoor recreation or more cultural theater experiences downtown. Whatever your plans are, you'll have no problem finding a hotel perfectly suited for your needs.
