Lampedusa is an Italian Island which lies somewhere between Malta and Tunisia. There is a ferry service from Sicily, and many low cost airlines fly here from the mainland during the summer months, making it a very popular destination. This has resulted in many hotels in Lampedusa, ranging from upscale to cheap hotels. It is an interesting island as it is part of Italy politically, but geographically is part of Africa, and both of these influences can be seen. It is popular for its white sandy beaches and amazingly clear water which is great for scuba-diving.

Enjoying Lampedusa
The best thing about this quiet island is the scenery and the natural, unspoilt beauty of it. A lot of the buildings on the island reflect the mixture of different influences, including the Lampedusa hotels themselves. The beaches are the main draw for tourists, and in the summer the best thing to do is relax and soak up the sun. There are quite a few nature trails too for those who enjoy a more active holiday. A great thing to do here is to rent a moped and search for the more deserted beaches, and delve deeper into the island.
