The Fort Valley Museum is another great way to get in touch with Fort Valley's history. It is a complex of several buildings preserved by the local community. Expect exhibits like The Old Brick Church (from around 1830), The One-Room School, The Seven Fountains Resort, and many more.

Let's travel back to the modern days. We've already mentioned the Georgia Peach Festival - one of the most anticipated events in the country, comparable to Mardi Gras or Cali Rose Festival. It is a fun event celebrating the harvesting season and the importance of the peach industry in the story of the city and state. Georgia used to be known as the Peach Capital of the world. Today the production scale has decreased; however, Fort Valley still remains the most significant peach-producing area in the state. Expect a lot of music, parades, peach-eating contests, arrays of vendors with delicious locally-grown foods and craft beverages, and lots of people from all over the country and world.

Best Time to Visit

Fort Valley is known for its many festivals and events. The best time to visit Fort Valley is during the spring or fall when the weather is the most comfortable and the town is alive with activity.

Among many recreational opportunities provided by the city are tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, as well as well-equipped playgrounds, multiple picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, walking tracks, and hiking trails.

The South Peach Park also has blueberries and chestnuts allowed for public picking. The park is also home to the Senior Citizens Center that hosts various events like community lunches and other types of gatherings.

Youth athletics programs are top-notch in the area and include baseball/softball in the spring, football, soccer, cheerleading in the fall, and basketball in winter. Despite being a small city with less than 10,000 residents, Fort Valley is proud to be home to one of the best football teams in the state. The Peach County High Trojans have made the playoffs of the state title games every time since 1990.
