Traveling through the upper Rio Grande river, the road leads you through the San Luis Valley and some of Colorado's oldest communities with great views of the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountain ranges and passing by the Great Sand Dunes National Park. A sandbox of great proportions. The entire dune field is 30 square miles and the tallest dune is 750 feet high.

The town has changed but there is still great places around there to visit. The Sand Dunes, Gator farm, South Fork and the town of Creed has some cute shops to visit. If you love to camp and fish there are great places to do this.
