Oberlin is also the home of the Allen Memorial Art Museum, founded in 1917 and housed in a historic Renaissance-style building. This museum, named for an 1875 graduate who funded the collections, contains paintings, sculptures, and artworks from the 19th century and earlier, as well as a modern and contemporary art collection created in 1977.
Literature fans should stop by the Bench by the Road, which honors Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison. The venerated African American writer, who passed away Aug. 5, 2019, grew up in nearby Lorain and had a close relationship with the college, giving commencement speeches in 2009 and 2012.
Take a step back and experience life in the 1800s when you visit the Little Red Schoolhouse. This 1836 structure was the first public school in Oberlin and gives tourists a glimpse of how students lived and learned during that era of Ohio history.

The art museum is wonderful! Nothing better than Ben Franklin's variety store. Aladdin's is a great place to eat, as is Tiny Thai's. Of course, there are magnificent concerts by Oberlin students and guest artists. It's a great little town!

I love the harmony and diversity displayed here. The quirkiness. Like his pollinator parade in the rain and the welcoming atmosphere and good food, the restaurants. It is fun to stroll around and immerse yourself in the beauty of the buildings. Oberlin is a very special City in its welcoming diversity of all aspects of humans going about their lives.
Oberlin is a small quaint town. Very nice people here and seemed very welcoming.
