When we arrived for our four day stay with Holiday Inn, I walked in and got an extremely weird look from the gentleman at the desk, his name is Carbon, I think.. anyway after a 15 minute check-in, we parked and when to the room, after our late arrival all I wanted to do was go to sleep, but I had some paperwork to email before, I tried to get on the internet that was provided by the hotel, the slowest internet known to man. The following day the family and I went to the pool.. not only did I have to clean the entire pool just to swim in it, the hot tub was also very dirty. During the daytime hours you see a lot of staff moving about the hotel, and not once did any of the staff members that came into the pool area get an employee from maintenance, they didn't even seem to care that I was doing their jobs? The third day we wake up with a bill under the door... when I called down to the front desk I asked the gentleman who answered why I had a bill when I was staying four days, he tells me that my room had already been reserved and there was nothing he could do?! As a member of management with a Holiday Inn Express I know that what happened while I was here was not only wrong, and completely unnecessary, but if we as IHG employees' want to continue to be brand hearted then you all need to BE BRAND HEARTED.
The only person that was a pleasant surprise was Betty, she had just started.. not one person made me feel welcome, which is quite sad. « less

My mom, sister, and I stayed several days at this hotel, as my father is in the hospital at U of M. The hotel is discounted for families who have a member at the hospital. The chairs are ripped, the bathroom supplies that they leave in the room were all opened already,no seals not even on the mouthwash and the plastic wear that we rec'd from the restaurant was always already an open pack normally with just a knife left. The air conditioning didn't work very well, and being in MI the next few days we needed heat, and the smell from the heater was unbearable! I think they could do a little more with their services to accommodate the families. When we arrived for our initial long stay, my dad was ill and had tubes and they put us on the 5th floor. Our rooms weren't together, and we had to ask that they even be on the same floor, as we had to assist my dad. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It is close to the hospital, but that's the only plus. My gas tank was also messed with while I was there. Not a satisfied stay! « less

I've stayed here numerous times, but sad to say I may need to go elsewhere next time. Was here for Michigan commencement, and had little or not hot water the entire weekend. Not just on Saturday morning, which was when everybody in the hotel was up at the same time, but also Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Essentially, the entire weekend. Sorry, I can put up with a lot of nonsense, but hotels can't run out of hot water anymore.
Also, on the executive floor I was on the wireless internet was free, but very very slow. 802.11b just does not cut it anymore.
They seem to be updating the place, but if you ask me, they are not paying attention to the things that a lot of people find to be important. « less

I come to Ann Arbor monthly for business. Usually stay at a different hotel but they were booked. I made a reservation on the Holiday Inn Website and did not notice that it was prepaid and nonrefundable. I never make nonrefundables because my clients often change their plans. After a 5 hour drive, I pulled up to the hotel I thought I was staying in but they did not have my reservation. I looked at my confirmation and saw that I was booked at this one (which is nowhere near the Univ of Michigan unless you count that it is in the same county). I called and asked them if I could transfer my reservation to the hotel I was standing in. They said no, hotels were individually owned and reservations could not be transferred. They said I could speak to a manager but she was not in until tomorrow (this was at 5:15).
I left and went to the Hampton Inn where, although they were sold out, found me a room. I would rather pay twice than stay at another Holiday Inn. « less

As for your reservation, it is unfortunate that you booked the advance purchase rate which is a non refundable and non cancellable reservation. Since this is an advance purchase rate we can move the reservation to a different date but not to another property. As the staff mentioned, our hotels are individually owned thus they have different policies regarding reservations. Nevertheless, we appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and only ask to please take time to verify your bookings online to avoid this kind of confusion.
