I have mixed feelings about my recent stay here for a conference. When I checked in the service was superb! Quick check in, gave me a room on the 10th floor (requested higher floor to avoid train noise as others had suggested), and they were able to accommodate my request for a refrigerator in my room without issue. Unfortunately the refrigerator they gave me had some black in it. I assumed it was mold so the change out for a different one was quite prompt. I was also given a late check out without a problem due to having to keep some medical fluids cold. The front desk sevice was great!
Room could use some help. Beds and linens wee nice but I really wished I packed my slippers. Rug and walls need to be redone.
Resturant and bar were good and convenient. I was even able to have a drink and order food to-go one night, that was nice.
My issue with service came when checking out. I was told that getting a taxi to the airport was difficult, I would have never imagined this. The bell desk did find me some people that said I could hop in their car with them. But was pretty descourage about them saying that there was nothing else I could do that they were not already doing to get me a car. Well all of a sudden a random taxi pulled up and could take me to the airport. Makes me think that they did not even try to call any taxi services for me, or it was just my lucky day.
Location is OK, I don't think there is anything special about this area. I would have preferred to be near the university. Staion Square is a pretty tired area it seamed. « less

My husband and I stayed here the night before the Pittsburgh marathon so we could walk to the start (it is about a 1 mile walk or so). Check-in was very slow and didn't seem to be very organized. We were told we had a river facing room which sounded nice and when we got there looked nice....until we heard the very loud train right beneath our window. It runs day and night which I know because we heard it every time it went by. The walls are also very thin. We heard a full phone conversation (the woman had it on speaker at 2am) clear as a bell as well as hallway noise.
We are Starwood Preferred Guests and we also weren't allowed to have late check-out. This one I can kind of understand because the hotel was probably sold out but it just added to our other disappointments.
The room was clean and the bed and pillows were good. Station Square is a good location although you have to walk over the bridge to get into the actual town. For what we paid (over $200) I have to give it a poor rating. « less

This property is very, very, very dated. Did you get that? It's like stepping back in time to the late 80s or early 90s. The room was in desparate need of refreshing, and housekeeping are clearly just going through the motions (should have been much cleaner). Service in the restaurant was mediocre bordering on rude, and the breakfast buffet fare was the kind you get free in budget chains. Removed from downtown and noisy (see previous comments on the trains), the worst aspect was that the room rate was very similar to superior properties in the center of the city. Never again! « less

I really wish I would've seen the reviews before booking here, nearly every single one is 100% correct. Started out with check in, small space to unload, no big deal- it's like that in Pittsburgh. Desk staff- friendly. I specifically asked for a quiet area since I had small children with me, they said "okay". While waiting for the elevators, overheard some employees loud-talking to each other, their conversation peppered with swear words. Not very professional, still, no big deal.
The room- decent, dated but clean. Everything was not too bad until about midnight. That's when the drunks in the hallways began screaming, slamming doors, having deep discussions etc. Seemed like every 10 minutes from 12AM to 3:30 AM a new group of them would wander through the halls, being as loud as possible.
Combine that with two hours of thumping bass music from somewhere in the building made for a aggravating "sleep". I did hear security once, at least their radios. The noise stopped for the couple of minutes they were present, then started right back up.
I suppose I could've called security myself, but I would've been on the phone for 3 hours straight.
When checking out, the friendly desk person apologized and blamed it on "the weekend". I said I specifically asked for a quiet area of the hotel, I got another apology. I guess there are no quiet areas.
I would recommend the hotel for anybody who is drinking alcohol for the first time, and wants to let loose and be as loud & obnoxious as possible, it's great for that! « less

Stayed here thinking it would be a good play to hang out for a weekend. The room quality was lacking very bland. The room could have cleaned better. Internet was slow. Check in was a bit on the slow side , they were not aware of their hotel programs. Kids were running up and down the hallways. Service in the lounge was horrible . Watch out for the trains they will defiantly wake you up. Checked out a day early due to the noise issues and was told by the front desk clerk inform me they would be an early departure fee but because of the issues she would wave it . Not the best way to get a return customer. Parking can be a bit expensive if you do not pay attention and get the in and out pass. Tried to get some information from the bellman he was totally clueless and did not want to help. Just not the type service one would expect from a hotel that is suppose to be world class service. « less
