Pittsburgh, PA summarized

Unlike most of the nation's proud old towns, Pittsburgh gladly traded its historic Victorian buildings for steel and gravel. Pittsburgh was once the nation's leading producer of glass, iron, and steel, thanks to Andrew Carnegie, who was once the world's richest man. Pittsburgh saw another facelift in the 1960's, where abandoned steel mills were demolished for sleeker skyscrapers and greener spaces. Pittsburgh has established itself as a destination to be reckoned with, one of the nation's most livable cities. The city is now at par with the most attractive American cities, after decades of struggling with dirt and pollution. Still, much of its ironclad façade are seen throughout the waterfront, with a pre-revolutionary fortification, two inclined railways, 446 bridges, and 151 high-rise buildings. The meshwork made Pittsburgh known throughout as "The Steel City" and "The City of Bridges". Pittsburgh is known for the Golden Triangle, an appealing 10-block district, which is surrounded by bequests. The buildings of Heinz food producers, Frick Coal Merchants, and the Mellon Bankers still stand stalwartly as heirlooms of wealthy forefathers. The small-town feel, amidst displays of occasional steel, attests to the city's historical resurgence.

"Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art." - Andy Warhol, American artist who was one of the leaders in pop art.

The large and modern city is known for its steel and 446 bridges running across innumerable hills and three major rivers. Hotels in Pittsburgh are therefore scattered across the city with excellent communication facilities. If the National Negro Opera Company is the first Afro-American initiative towards opera in the United States, the city had the rich commissioning cultural centers like the Benedum Center and Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts in the 19th century. Andy Warhol Museum and Toonseum are popular museums among many others. The world's largest convention on furry fictional animal characters is held here every year in the month of June/July.

Cheap hotels are very competitive and usually serve good food.

2 Beautiful Hotels With Excellent Views

Pittsburgh hotels offering luxurious stay find excellent locations creating the perfect ambience for their guests. Fairmont Pittsburgh - Right on Market Street, the luxurious hotel offers guests bicycles to travel around. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is just over half a kilometer away. The 24-hour front desk offers assistance with directions to the nearby Andy Warhol Museum. The spacious rooms are fitted with private bathrooms, and guests can work out at the well-equipped gymnasium. Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown - Here is another hotel close to the convention center offering pet-friendly accommodation. For such a luxurious hotel at a convenient location, tariffs are quite reasonable. The extended-stay hotel serves hot breakfasts every morning. Rooms have full kitchens and deluxe bedding. An additional sofa-bed is also provided.

Most Livable City With Many Attractions

Visitors have a chance to experience firsthand why people love the city and why retirees just won't leave. Hotels in Pittsburgh have access to entertaining events such as round and folk dances held at places like the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Interactive science and technology exhibitions are held at the Carnegie Science Center. Art Centers like the Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University are very popular. We went to a game at PNC Park which was beautiful. We also did dome sightseeing. The city is a fun place with a lot to see and do. It is very clean. We will be back.

"Pittsburgh is better than ever."
Score 5.0 / 5

Hey, Pittsburgh looks better than ever! I grew up in the area, but haven't lived in the area since 1973. Every time I come back for a visit I see many improvements. It has been about 14 years since my last visit, and I am very favorably impressed. My priority on this visit was to spend time with family so I didn't have too much time for touring around, but I hope to be able to do more next time around. The city seems to be going through lots of positive change!

"Fantastic for Groups"
Score 4.0 / 5

For me, Pittsburgh is home, so I stayed with relatives, not our group. Pittsburgh proved ideal for our group's retreat, due to its diversity of attractions. We enjoyed fabulous food in outstanding settings (The Church Brew Works on Liberty Ave, and Jerome Bettis Grille 36 on North Shore Dr), as well as lots of fun at the zoo, the Science Center, and walking along Mt. Washington, viewing the cityscape at night. Most of our group had not been to Pittsburgh before, but all want to come back!

"An unexpected surprise."
Score 4.0 / 5

I lived in Pittsburgh three decades ago, just as the steel industry was floundering, and although I had (and have still) great feelings for the people, I feared for their future. Was I ever impressed! The city has bounced back marvelously; it is green beautiful, and interesting. The people are as friendly as ever (maybe even more so). Way to go Pittsburgh! You'll be seeing me again very soon.

The city of Pittsburgh was terrific. The bridges and the rivers flowing through the city were really amazing. We would gladly go again to this city.

"Party on Carson Street"
Score 5.0 / 5

One of the best party cities around. Way underrated and seriously underestimated. Carson street is huge and there is a ton to do.

"Confusing city"
Score 3.0 / 5

Confusing to get around and there were aggressive drivers at the liberty bridge.
