My husband and I stayed at Capt. Hirams for 3 days in a room by the pool with a jacuzi tub. The room was nice, but we did have some ants. It was just a little expensive for what we recieved. If we stayed again we would stay in a regular room. A couple of weird things happened with the staff that did not flow right at all. Go over customer service guidelines with your young staff and it will take your resort along way. It was beautiful! Would we stay thier again? Probably not. « less

Our daughter recently said her vows on the beach at Capt. Hiram's and we had the reception in the Tiffany Room looking out over the Indian River. The majority of our guests (we had approx. 30 rooms) stayed at Capt. Hiram's Resort. Sharon Strickland - the Banquet Manager at Capt. Hiram's did an outstanding job. She was so enjoyable to work with and went above and beyond our expectations. The food was incredible, from our breakfast every morning, to the rehearsal buffet and the reception dinner and the service impeccable. Jonathan Starratt, the hotel general manager was great, accommodating our crazy group and putting up with a very happy group of people - the rooms, pool, service, etc. were perfect. We cannot wait to come back!! « less

I have been to Captain Hiram's several times, and it continues to improve! The rooms are clean, generally good service, and several rooms have a nice view of the river. While there are some great rooms on the river, they can get noisy on the weekend. The food used to be so-so, but lately things have improved. Their breakfast now is incredible! (as is their view of the river).
You can play on their beach, rent a boat (or bring your own), and often listen to live music. I only gave them 4 stars because Indian River Drive (a small 2 lane road) passes between the restaurant/bar/river side of the hotel and the main hotel (and after all, it is only Sebastian). I enjoy the waterfront location, but to earn 5 stars you need to have more to offer than they can provide at this property. That is not to take away from the property at all, and they are hands-down the best place to stay in the area. It is just that if you are looking for a 5 star resort with the upscale amenities and exclusivity you would be better suited to stay on the beach in Vero Beach at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. However, you will pay significantly more, and in my opinion not have near as much fun or entertainment. « less

We stayed four nights and were fortunate to have booked a waterfront room in the main building, which made for very picturesque sunrises and plenty of moving interest all day long. A possible downside for some would be the evening noise from the live band in the sand bar below, which we didn't mind at all. The room was of a good size, clean and pleasantly turned out. With a comfortable bed, a large walk-in shower and everything else we needed - we were very satisfied. The breakfasts are comprehensive and, although not included in our tariff, we were given discount vouchers for each day. We ate in the restaurant every night and were very happy to do so. Varied menu, well-cooked, presented and served. Most enjoyable. « less

My wife and I visit Sebastian for a long weekend, we were very impressed with the quality of the service and food served at the resort really a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and confortable, nice flat screen tv, better than a lot of big name hotels. Try the restaurant you will be surprised with the high level of the kitchen. The place is fun, the best to spend quality time, with great live music. « less
