We stayed here for the Rolling Stones concert and found no problems whatsoever. The area is going through revitalization in the immediate area & did not seem unsafe, Staples Center & LA Live is within walking distance. There is a lot of action with pedestrians, grocery store within 1/4 mile, 24 IHOP & Subway, all safe. The residential buildings are urban and chic and residents seemed to be young professionals. Because so many people said, 'you don't want to stay in that area', we were concerned-but it was the opposite! Hotel staff very friendly, clean room recently remodeled, they upgraded us to the King Suite for some unknown reason so it was like 2 rooms & spacious, water pressure decent. Our window faced another building which was good because there was no noise from the street. Building is secure and parking was right next door. Several bus lines run often and there is quick access to the Metro, cabs drive by frequently. Higher end dining & shopping close by. « less

We had a double room. It was so small that we couldnt even open our luggages. The bathroom was the tiniest ever. The breakfast is awful everything just out of plastic. The whole building needs to be renovated as it really dated. The reception needs remodelling and lacks functionality. People at the front desk are really passive, not a great impression. Wouldnt go there again on business, but if you really need to stay downtown and dont wanna spend like crazy, then this is for you. « less

I stayed here a couple of years ago and found my room to be very drab and dingy. This time, I was in a remodeled room that was nice, but small. The bathroom was tiny. The bathroom window only had a thin curtain, so I suppose people in the building across the alley could look in.
The location is excellent -- the Convention Center, Staples, and Nokia are a few blocks away. The Metro is a block away.
My room was about $100 with taxes, which isn't cheap but is still a bargain for downtown LA. « less

Our room/suite was very clean, comfortable and large. There was a large bathroom with tub. The included breakfast had good coffee, english muffins, yogurt, and fresh fruit which was perfect for us. The only downfall was the garbage trucks in the middle of the night making a racket out on the street, but that was not the hotel's fault (we are not used to city noises). We were only a few blocks from the Nokia Theater where the event we attended was held so we were able to walk. We used public transportation which was convenient to the hotel. The front desk was very helpful with directions and holding our luggage after we checked out so we could see some more things before catching the red eye home. I would definately stay there again if we come back to LA. « less
