This is our first visit to Hoboken, NJ, the home of Frank Sinatra. Last night had a terrific dinner and Dino & Harry's and got to see some of the area. Seems like a town that is coming together in a good way.
The W Hotel here feels brand new. It's definitely sexy, from the moment you drive up and enter the lobby and then sexiness all the way into the rooms. This is the first time I've been in a shower that actually has a large mirror as a backsplash. Interesting feature but a little surprising on a jet-lagged morning.
Beds, as usual for the W and Westin Hotels, are very comfortable. The room is decorated to be cool and trendy, which means that it seems more focused on maintaining its sexy vibe than on providing a truly comfortable environment, but it's pretty well done.
I can understand others' complaints about the noisy clientele. Sounded like a bachelorette party was forming last night down the hall - lots of yelling and laughing but they cleared out by 11pm, and I wasn't bothered by anything else during the night. On the flip side, the service here is very good. Excellent check-in service, crisp and efficient and very friendly. Everyone who works here seems intelligent, friendly and genuinely helpful.
The lounge here attracts a hip young crowd. Some very beautiful young ladies around as we were coming and going to dinner last night. The bar area seems quite lively. Didn't try the restaurant.
The views on Manhattan are phenomenal. We are on the 8th floor facing the river and the view of the under construction Freedom Tower and the NYC skyline in general take your breath away. There is also a very lovely promenade that goes along the river right outside the hotel.
Washington Street with all the great shops and restaurants is also nearby, as is the PATH train into Manhattan and the ferries, I think. Great location.
We ordered room service this morning. For $54.32 we got two 2 egg breakfasts, no meat, with toast and potatoes. And a big pot of coffee . The eggs were a little undercooked and the toast was just okay, the potatoes were pretty good if a little sad from sitting around. The coffee was truly awful. I didn't get more than a sip or two down. It would be nice to see them improve their room service quality and hopefully on a return trip we'll see just that. Otherwise this hotel is quite nice.
Our rate was $299/night for an 8th floor room with a gorgeous view. « less

This hotel is almost new and every bit of it is done just right. The lobby is beautiful and looks to be a fun place to hang out if you are meeting people. The restaurant is very inviting also, big comfy chairs and couches. It has a great location, gorgeous views and it is obvious that the staff is first rate. Very pleasant- very accomodating. As it should be when the "W" stands for "whatever, whenever". We had room servce and the portions were fairly good size and everything tasted really good especially there fruit smoothies!! « less

Just walking distance from PATH and ferry to NYC. The best views of NYC. Very clean and beautiful rooms. The service and food was good. I had a great time and would recommend this as a great option for being close to NY but far enough so you don't have to deal with the downside from being in manhattan. « less

I arrived in Hoboken late and was a little weary from my travels, I simply just wanted a comfortable room and to be able to freshen up. My plan was to see if I could have some fun on Cinco De Mayo in Hoboken. Firstly, the lobby is so cool and modern, they didn't cut any corners and you just feel yourself saying "do I really get to say here tonight?"
Check in was one word. WONDERFUL. The beautiful girl at the Front Desk was not only personable, welcoming and really nice...but she also knew basically everything I needed to know. She reccomended a place for dinner, another place for drinks and easy directions to both. She was able to get me an awesome room overlooking mid town manhattan and she did it all with a smile on her face. I don't think I have had a better check in. Ashley, thank you again for making my stay at the W absolutley awesome. The suggestions you made turned out to be perfect and I had a great time in Hoboken!!
Room was very cool and stylish and the bathroom was modern and different. Not really sure my parents would enjoy this place with all the modern technology and style, but I am way cooler then those old farts, so I liked it.
Great trip, only issue was I had told them when I checked in that something was missing from the mini bar and I didn't want to get charged, I even mentioned it at check out and everyone said don't worry it we will contact the F/B department, but a second charge showed up on my credit card nonetheless. Whatever, I had such a good time I don't even care.
Coolest place to stay in Hoboken and really great staff. Thanks again!! « less

Being a platinum member, I walked straight to the check in desk and proudly announced my name only to find out that I hadn't booked a room using my points as I had incorrectly assumed. However, Ashley at the front desk was so patient and tried every combo possible to see if there was reservation under my name without losing cool and finally offered to connect me to SPG directly to resolve the issue. Once I realized it was mistake on my end and hadn't actually made the reso, I proceeded to logon through my phone and make a reservation there and get into a room. And got a nice upgrade because of my status and was blown away by the room and views... Never seen a bang & olufsen sound system in any hotel that i've stayed so far not in spg, not in ritz or nothing. the views were amazing and staff were awful nice and front desk especially Ashley was wonderful. STAY THERE if you get to that area.... « less
