This was our 3rd visit to Honolulu & the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is definitely the best hotel to stay at. It's location on the beach & amongst great restaurants & shops is ideal. We upgraded to an ocean front room after seeing our ocean view room which was small & had views of the hotel next door more than the sea. The staff were friendly & helpful when we made the room change. Our room was spacious & clean with a comfortable bed & had a fridge & safe & free wifi which were lacking in other hotel rooms in the USA. Having a coin laundry on site was very handy & the gym, although small, was well equipped. Dukes bar was too busy for pre-dinner drinks but we found a nice quiet bar next door at the Royal Hawaiian shopping centre. « less

This Hotel is located on the beautiful Waikiki Beach. Rooms overlooking this are a treat. Staff were very good & helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a huge selection. The lifts were being upgraded while we were there which made coming & going from ones room a lengthy task at times. Outside the hotel on the main drag are plenty of food choices as well as the International Markets close by. Bus service to Alomoana Shopping centre was good & inexpensive. However if you are Asian you will get to where you want to go a lot quicker. Hawaii you are discriminating against other races that visit your beautiful shores, please change this!!!!!!! « less

One of our main concerns with staying on Waikiki was to have a hotel where we could walk off the sand and into the ocean with a minimal amount of reef, coral or rock. Also where you could surf out the front. This location turned out perfect. Just check if you are going to stay at another beach hotel what the access is like, if that is important to you. I dont know why able bodied people swim in the pool all day, when there is a safe, non chlorinated ocean 25 yards away. Dukes can be bit of a challange to get into for dinner etc, but be patient and play by the rules and it will happen, but all the good or iconic places are busy at the prime dining time in Waikiki. Dont try and win over the staff with abuse and insults, although it is fun to watch losers in action.
We only had breakfast at hotel once in 6 days which was nice, but we got a packet of cereal, bowls and milk from the ABC shop across the road for less than $10 and had that. You find so much fresh, new and exciting food when you are out and about we didn't see the need to stuff ourselves at a buffet which we could do anywhere.
Awesome location for shopping, restaurants, car hire and transport etc.
I mentioned our oceanfront location in the "add a tip section" etc, its my first review so i dont know where it appears.
We will be returning to this hotel as soon as possible. « less

As in a lot of hotels in Waikiki, this place is so dated its a bit ridiculous. You pay for the beach front location, proximity to shops/restaurants (which is great). The rooms are just a bit tired, although comfortable enough. We ate most morning at hulas grill which was great, always good food. The pool/beach area is nice, but poolside service is SLOW honestly you're better to go eat in the restaurant. In all honesty, next time id pay less to not have a beachfront location and just go to the beach (rather than poolside lounge) or pay more for somewhere much more modern and international hotel standard. « less

I would stay here over and over again, I loved it that much. We had the view of the ocean and would watch the pirate ships as they would come out to view in the mornings. Waking up that hawaiian sun beaming in from the balcony was the best you can ask for. Having our room right on the beach was perfect. Staying here for two weeks was the best decision and best vacation yet. Hoping I will be back in less than five years.. Also can't beat the breakfast they serve here. The mahi mahi is DELICIOUS! This hotel is located right on the beach. Two steps away and you're in the water already surfing. « less
