I was really impressed how kid friendly the hotel was. The only thing I didn't care for how packed the under 17 side of the pool got they could have planned that a little better. The newly remodeled rooms were decent, for the price I paid you can't really complain. The service was okay but I asked for a late check out and I had house keeping banging on the door every 10 mins asking when I was leaving!! All in all I would stay there again! « less

My family went to Laughlin for the 2013 River Run. The place was sold out weeks in advance of the event. We found it very comfortable and relaxing and they had the extra staff on hand for the crowds. The pool area is more like a large wading pool but still very relaxing. You cannot take a cooler into the pool area and they did check my wifes purse for a hidden cold one. The bar at the pool area is reasonably priced, $4.50 for a 16 oz aluminum bottle of beer and food prices at the restaurants were reasonable. On the down side, no microwaves in the rooms or mini-fridges (available at an extra charge). We were able to check in early, and the desk staff was very helpfull. Overall we had a great time and we were glad we stayed at the Avi as it is about 12 miles from the madhouse that they had going downtown for the event. One other thing, under hotel amenities they mention fishing but you cannot fish from the island, docks or beach area so you will need to do some hiking. « less

Our room was decent, we liked the pool and beach area, and we had a good meal at Aviano's, the Italian restaurant on site. Service people weren't too friendly, but they were professional and did their jobs. Our favorite part of the stay was a stop at the Firehouse Coffee Co., which is in the SW corner of the parking lot by the gas station. Great coffee, perfectly toasted bagels, and employees that treated the customers so well you would have thought they were the owners. The quiche looked great, and I plan to stop again someday to try it. Overall, I would recommend the Avi if you need a place to stay for the night or want to lie in the sun by the pool or river for a weekend. « less

I will start off by saying the two good things about this resort was the price and the pool. the pool was clean and the rooms were cheap. Also, I understand it is a Casino so smoking is permitted. However, the entire complex smelled like smoke including our non-smoking room (It's 2013 people, you're still smoking?!).
The resort is in need of updates as well as a new ventilation system. Look elsewhere for a decent meal as the food-court and buffets lack real food. There were also some sketchy characters staying in the resort that made the girls in our family feel uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this resort to tree huggers, young families, or picky people. I would recommend this resort to older folks, smokers, gamblers, or people looking for a cheap stay. « less

The AVI looks super nice online, well the pictures lie. The place hasn't been updated in about 15 years. Our bathtub faucet was falling off the wall, you get one towel the size of a napkin per person, and the general maintenance just wasn't there. On top of that the place was so smokey. Just walking through the casino you smell like you smoked a pack of cigarettes.
Unless your going for the gambling only, pass this place up. « less
