The Laughlin center point is around 2 miles west of North Parking Lot and 3 miles west of Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino.

Located in the southern tip of Nevada just 90 miles south of Las Vegas, where the state meets California and Arizona, the town of Laughlin is actually an unincorporated area of Clark County. The town was established as South Pointe in the 1940s and consisted of just a motel and a bar and was built to help those working on the Davis Dam. In 1964, Don Laughlin bought the property and within two years opened with 12 slot machines and a couple gaming tables. The area was renamed from South Pointe to Laughlin by the postal inspector who needed to have an address to send mail, even though Don Laughlin had suggested the names of Riverside or Casino. The area expanded out from there, first by adding an additional 48 rooms to the original Riverside Resort hotel in 1972 and then more additions in 1986 that included a 14-floor high rise. More casinos joined the area as well, and today there are nine casinos in all. Laughlin funded the building of a bridge in 1987 to cross the Colorado River that borders Laughlin and later donated it to the states of Nevada and Arizona.

Best Time of Year to Visit Laughlin, NV

Located in Nevada, it's not surprising to learn that Laughlin has a desert climate. High temperatures often exceed 110 degrees F in the height of summer — July and August — with lows landing around 78 to 90 degrees F. Winters here are very mild with the lowest temperatures averaging 44 degrees at night and still getting up to mid-60s and low 70s from December to February. Accordingly, the best time to visit the area is from January to March. If you want to swim in the pool, then try to plan a trip in spring or fall. One thing to note is that weekend rates for rooms rise drastically on the weekend, so if you're looking for a deal, come on a Sunday through Thursday night.

There are also events throughout the year that draw in visitors. In September is the Laughlin Shootout that includes a bull riding competition. April holds Laughlin Rodeo Days — five days of various rodeo competition, which is fun for the whole family. Because Laughlin is neighbors with Bullhead City in Arizona (which is in the Mountain Time Zone), the New Year's holiday is a fun time to visit. Celebrate the New Year in Bullhead City and then cross the bridge and celebrate an hour later in Laughlin. The third week in September is the Talent Quest National Karaoke Singing Contest held in Laughlin as well.

3 Star Average Prices: $69.55

The best part about heading to Laughlin is the price of the hotel rooms. There is an abundance of low-cost options, especially if you're heading here on a weekday.

The Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall is one such hotel, offering great amenities while keeping the prices within your budget. Here, rooms range from standard to suites with river views, though the standard rooms will fetch you the best price. Those bringing a pet can choose a pet room that is perfect for your furball. You'll find a pool and whirlpool spa outdoors as well as a sandy beach area. On site is Bumbleberry Flats, an American restaurant that's open 24 hours a day. Best Value Accommodations in Laughlin, NV

The Tropicana Laughlin is a great value for those that want a resort-style hotel without the resort prices. The pool in the middle of Town Square is party central. Cool off in the pool or grab a cold beverage at the pool shack. Rent a cabana and get a refrigerator and fan included. Sporting events and other entertainment are shown on the 160-inch poolside TV. The Tropicana has six on-site restaurants including a buffet and two cafés. The Steakhouse is open five nights a week for an upscale dinner while Taqueria Del Rio is open on the weekends. If you're looking for entertainment, enjoy one of the shows at the Pavilion Theater, that includes comedians and Broadway shows. Rooms are furnished with luxurious pillow-top mattresses, 300 thread count sheets, and lots of pillows.

The Colorado Belle Hotel & Casino offers great prices on rooms as well as amenities. These start with the two pools available — one by each tower. The New Orleans Tower pool has a waterfall as well as a bubbling spa that can fit up to 14. The Bourbon Tower pool on the other hand is more secluded. Both pools are heated, so you can enjoy them year-round. Room service is available for guests that want continental breakfast, and the Bell Desk is available for services that include carrying luggage to your room and other concierge tasks.

With rooms that feature either one king or two queen beds in a design that is modern yet inviting, the Aquarius Casino Resort has a lot of amenities for guests without breaking your budget. It all starts with a choice pillow, soft duvet, and beautiful triple sheeting. That comfort is extended out to the rest of the hotel where you'll find four on-site restaurants in addition to Outback Steakhouse and fast food options. The outdoor pool is on the roof of the third floor and makes for a wonderful escape, especially during warm weather. And of course, you can't forget the fun to be had in the casino.
