We made a quick trip to Memphis a reunion with old friends. The Madison Hotel is located downtown is a nice, boutique hotel. The hotel was good with smallish rooms and quality amenities. It was expensive for Memphis and for what it offered, but far nicer than the tired old Peabody Hotel located nearby.
Downtown Memphis is not a very inviting place to visit or stay. We were there over a weekend and there was not a great deal going on apart from night clubs on Beale Street. Our advise to everyone is to try to avoid Beale Street, it is seedy and we just didn't feel very safe walking in that area, or anywhere in downtown Memphis for that matter. During the day, downtown Memphis is virtually empty and we noted a number of blighted buildings. The riverfront is nice and we always enjoy seeing the mighty Mississippi River.
In short, this is a nice hotel that just happens to be located in a downtown area we will avoid in the future. « less

The hotel is in an excellent location and is in walking distance to some good restaurants and Memphis happenings.
I wouldn't recommend paying $29/night for valet parking as there's plenty of public parking nearby.
Take advantage of their rooftop bar- it has an amazing view and seems to be a popular hangout for guests and locals.
I've stayed at The Peabody numerous times, but The Madison is where I'll be staying from now on. I like this boutique hotel very much. « less

Ace is the man in charge of valet services, he is awesome as is his entire, well trained team! The Madison is a peaceful hotel but has a rooftop bar that ROCKS! It overlooks the river and is the best place to be in Memphis at sunset! After sunset, there are many excellent restaurants within walking distance as well as the excitement found on Beale Street. « less

We have stayed at the Madison Hotel 3-4 times a year over the last 4 years while our son was at Rhodes College. Each time has been great, primarily because of the terrific location and outstanding staff. Located a few blocks from the Mississippi River and around the corner from many good restaurants downtown, it is easy to walk or catch the trolley to restaurants, museums, Beale Street or the FedEx Forum. The view from the top of the Madison can not be beat and sunsets over the river are the best. Our son just graduated and we are very sad not to have a trip planned for the next year but we will get back to the Madison when we can! « less

My wife and I recently spent a long weekend in Memphis, TN and decided to stay at the Madison Hotel in downtown Memphis. We were immediately greeted at the check-in counter by Ms. Kiran Versi. She had a beautiful smile, pleasant attitude and a real desire to make our stay at the Madison Hotel a delightful, relaxing and wonderful experience. Ms. Versi was not alone in making sure our stay was memorable. We found the entire staff to be focused on customer satisfaction. We also found the rooms and accommodations to be outstanding.
