I stayed at this hotel last summer for multiple weeks during a work project. The rooms are smallish but on average with NY hotels. Rooms are clean but during summer months they tend to be very humid even with AC running. Small gym and business center, no room service or in hotel dining. Close to a lot of good restaurants though. « less

Small rooms, comfortable bed, fresh bathroom. But the carpet did not feel so fresh and curtains probably needs washed. Good hotel and close to everything. We got a corner room but was not disturbed out of traffic at all. When we would go to the airport staff suggested that we would book a taxi instead of taking a taxi in the street .The price was fixed and everything would be included for $ 65, tips, customs and taxes. But when we had to pay was not included so we had to instead pay $ 85. Feels a bit sad we had known this we would rather take a yellow taxi. « less

I stayed in The GEM Chelsea twice in March 2013. The hotel has great location, two minutes by foot from the metro station. The rooms are modern, the furniture and equipment in bathroom are new, bed and bath accessories of excellent quality. The room is clean, has everything you need, including a coffee machine, a free safe, free high-speed wi-fi. Manager Roman Mavashev was very hospitable, he arranged my airport transportation, I always felt his care and support. The front desk staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful. The GEM Chelsea has excellent staff, location and quality beyond compare. I will book this hotel on my next visit and recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues. « less

first time in chelsea, 2nd time in NYC> we booked this relatively close to TriBeca film fest location, although in the end didn't get a chance to get in on a rush ticket. The location was lovely, close to the High Line, the chelsea market and right across the street from a subway stop which made it very easy to zip up to central park. The room was small - very small - yes typical new york but just shockingly small regardless. didn't really matter since we were only there to sleep. At night the turn down service was nice with this awesome lavender scent that you could put on your pillow if you wanted. Loved it. The housekeepers were very nice too. On checkin we were able to go straight up to our room at 11 am, which was great. And they were happy to hold our bags on the last day while we toured around. It was not as slick as a boutique hotel that we had stayed in earlier in NYC but it was a cosy and decent place (despite costing a fair bit because of the film fest i think). we simply walked down from Penn Stn - a 10 minute walk. Places to eat nearby - murrays bagels, Foragers table and a couple streets down a venezuelan restaurant which was amazing. bed was very comfy and pillows lovely. « less
