Shame on me for trying this again. I decided to try this hotel again, since I was in the area, and was assured by the general manager that positive changes were being made.
Renovations and new TV's can not take mask larger issues, such as lazy housekeepers, or poor standards and procedures. But is is fun to write my initials in dust on the TV.
A fresh coat of paint can't hide the fact that there was so much hair in the sink, and around the toilet when I arrived that I checked in the closet to make sure I wasn't checked into an already occupied room. I wish I had brought some sandals to wear in the shower.
And to top it off, the staff seemed like they were put out when I asked for some clean towels (there was only a hand towel, and a bath mat in the room when I arrived).
I have honestly stayed in nicer Hostel, with much nicer staff. « less

I have been a Sheraton stand-out among Marriott loyalists, but after this experience that may be coming to an end. I had read the quite bad reviews but given the manager's explanation of construction work I was not too concerned - mistake! The place is drab, characterless, shabby and musty. Admittedly my room was a good size, but the fittings were years out of date and the elevator noise unbearable - when I mentioned the latter on check-out, there was no response - probably because I had prepaid. You can't get great staff to work in a dump like this so I wasn't surprised at a lack of service - the greatest surprise and disappointment to me is that Starwood tolerates it. « less

We had only an overnight stay but that was quite enough. The hotel was under construction but there were no safeguards or placards in place. One of two elevators was locked open but not labeled. The entire hotel smelled musty. There were dirty dishes and trash in the hallways. The room while presentable was in need of attention. The linens on the bed were clean but stained. There were not enough towels in the bathroom. I went to the front desk to request another set and the clerk said that she did not have any but would get some to us shortly. This request was not honored. I tried to use the lobby computer to print boarding passes but the printer was out of ink and had been so for a month, per the desk clerk. We had an early flight. The night shift desk clerk was unable to check us out. We find out later that she had been an employee for only three days. The van to the airport was dirty inside and out. This hotel is quite isolated and we felt concerned about leaving our car there for a week. When we returned, it took three calls to the hotel and fifty minutes to get the van. « less

This hotel is just terrible. I am an SPG Platinum member and stay at SPG properties 75+ nights per year. This hotel is the worst Starwood hotel I have ever stayed at. My room was filthy and not vacuumed before my arrival. I asked for a different room and was simply told "no". After getting back to the hotel on my second night I found an employee smoking in a stairwell INSIDE the hotel! I tried to report this to the front desk and could not get a response. The staff is incredibly rude and unaccomodating and act like they are doing you a favor just to do their basic job! I would avoid this hotel at all costs! I truly hope Starwood investigates this hotel and revokes the franchise. It is truly not even close to meeting the standards of the Starwood brand. « less

What a complete disappointment. I arrive at 9:30pm into Pittsburg and after claiming my bag I called for the shuttle. The front desk girl named Jen said the shuttle should be there in 3-4 mins. I ran to door number 8 and waited where I was told . The shuttle was not there and it took a call and 35 - 40 mins to get picked up. The driver told me that the gal often forgets or is too busy talking to people to pass on the pickup information. Once at the hotel and check in there was no one to assist me with my bag. Once in the room I discovered it was handicapped room and when I called the front desk they said that was requested, but that was not correct. The light on the right side of the bed did not work, and I went to find ice and the ice machine did not work. I had trouble locating the ice machine because there was a housekeeping cart blocking it from sight. Plus what appeared to be bleach bottles sitting out near the machine and main hall. I found the room to be dark and gloomy and the property in general dirty. I read other trip advisor comments and saw the GM blame the experiences on the remodel. No excuse for the dirt. No excuse for the lifeless and frumpy dressed slow moving staff, When I checked out there was no one to help me with my bag and when I asked about getting a taxi I was told they could give me a phone number to call. Finally, the front desk gal called for a shuttle from the hotel I was moving to. I cut my stay short by two nights and moved to the courtyard by Marriott airport location and what a difference, clean, and a happy professional staff. « less
