Made a reservation for lodging, then had to change towns. Called and cancelled reservation. The reservation was not cancelled. We were charged for 1 night. My major complaint was the extremely poor service when I called the manager. At first, he did his best to avoid me. When I finally got through to him, all he could do was ask me to understand his position. Not once did he empathize with a single thing I said. Also called the international Best Western number. They asked me to file a complaint online. I did promptly. They never contacted me back. When I called them to check, they had nothing to say about what they were doing in response to my complaint. I will never stay at a Best Western again! « less

We have stayed at other Best Westerns and were not pleased. In fact, didn't plan on staying at one again. We were traveling and decided to stop at next town that had a nice hotel. This was just one of those awesome little surprises that you happen upon. Blanco is a very small town but this Best Western is amazing. The gardens outside are just lovely. Lobby so clean and clerk were friendly and helpful. Everything is decorated...even the elevator. Our room was excellent. Kings size bed and plenty of room for desk, couch, etc. Even had a wet bar for the coffee service in the room not the bathroom, That is always a plus. Will recommend this hotel to friends and family. Hope they keep this up as we will stay here again if traveling this way. « less

I'm pretty easy to please, so I hate writing this review. But I really feel like we got scammed this weekend. When we booked $150/night rooms at what states to be a LUXURY hotel, I expect some sort of luxury. This hotel is called "Best Western Luxury" hotel. It is not luxury at all. I am assuming Best Western LUXURY isn't considered a budget hotel, however the amenities and the experience (as well as the price paid) states otherwise. The positives: Our check in clerk, Tony was very friendly and gave a great recommendation for dinner. The bed is very comfortable, one of the more comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. The landscaping is very attractive. The rooms were clean.
The negatives: The breakfast was terrible. Most of the items were inedible. The guy at the front desk even warned us about the biscuits that were "made for long term storage", and he was right. They were hard as a rock. I've experienced better breakfast items at many other hotels (country inn, hampton inn, etc). The bagel, even after being toasted was stale. The best part was the coffee, which was actually not too bad. I was surprised to discover there was no lotion offered in the toiletries in the bathroom. I thought La Quinta was the only hotel property that only offered shampoo and conditioner, but they are considered a "budget" property, so this is understandable. The bedding was very sparse, and there was no comforter or extra blanket to be found in the room even though the night temps were in the 50s. « less

A previous reviewer called the Blanco Best Western Plus "Your Typical Best Western". I have stayed at many Best Western's and the Blanco one is WAY better than the "Typical" Best Western. The rooms are excellent and as good as any you will find in much more expensive hotels. Another comment was that the free breakfast was "usual ordinary and avoidable". I don't know what that person expected but we found the free breakfast to be very adequate and far better than most hotel free breakfasts. All the flowers are a very nice touch but I picked the Blanco Best Western because of its central hill country location. It is within an easy drive of all the hill country attractions including Austin and San Antonio. « less
