To celebrate my son's weekend graduation, several of our family met in Pittsburgh for the weekend from various destinations along the east coast. Cambria Suites offered a convenient location for our stay and we were pleased with the many amenities offered. The pleasant staff was very helpful throughout our stay. Kelly, one of the desk managers, was exceptionally helpful. three from our party wouldn't arrive until 3 or 4 am, and each were to be in different rooms. When I approached Kelly about our challenge, he took the time to make new room keys for each and carefully made sure that each of our guests would arrive to the correct room. He also made sure to have a parking pass ready for them to place in their automobile when they arrived. On the day of our departure, the woman at the desk advised that the Pittsburgh marathon might present challenges taking the typical route home. She took the time to map out alternate directions that surely saved us time while others lost 30-60 minutes to local traffic before starting their long journeys home. The staff's willingness to go the extra mile is just one reason I'd recommend Cambria Suites for your next stay in Pittsburgh. Joe D. « less

We stayed at the Cambria Suites for three nights on a very busy weekend in Pittsburgh. Stanley Cup playoffs, Pirates game and the reason for our visit-the Pittsburgh Marathon. The Cambria Suites is a new, modern hotel r next store to Consol Center where hockey is played. The rooms are divided by a decorative open wall between a sitting area and bed-not a typical suites arrangement, but fine. The sitting area is small, bathroom very nice-walk in shower which I prefer over tub/shower. Small fridge and microwave in the room for convenience. We bought sausage and cheese in the strip district to bring home to NC so the fridge was terrific. Busy bar in the evening especially with hockey in town. Hotel staff was friendly, informative. Parking is great-right outside in the back. Not really near any restaurants etc., but a reasonable walk into downtown. May be too far for some people to go especially uphill on return trip. We got a great price for two nights as race participants. Last night was rack rate of $279. This is not a $279 per night hotel. Overall, very pleasant, but unless you get a deal or If you are attending an event at the Consol Center-I would go elsewhere. « less

Dear NCTravelDiva,
Hello there and thank you so much for reviewing your stay as our recent guest. It was great to read that we were able to provide you with a positive experience during your stay for the Pittsburgh Marathon which by the way, I hope you or participants you may have been supporting fared well in. Similar to all downtown Pittsburgh hotels, our rates do fluctuate with large events such as the marathon or in our specific case being right next door to the Consol Energy Center, events taking place there. We always strive to provide the most competitive rates as our area provides for given the city's activity. We hope to have the pleasure of serving you as our guest again in the future.

LOCATION: You can't get any closer to the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins then this hotel. You literally walk out the door and the arena is right there. Not in town for the Penguins? Well, the hotel is also about 3-4 blocks from the Steel Plaza "T," station, which is Pittsburgh's version of the subway. The "T" will take you to such sights as PNC Park, Heinz Field, the downtown area, & the casino. Plus, a majority of these stops are free from Steel Plaza (PNC, Heinz Field, Gateway Plz., Wood St., & 1st Ave). Want to go to Station Square? Take the "T" at Steel Plaza for $5.00 roundtrip. Or utilize the hotel's free shuttle service. *Warning, the hotel is located on the top of a hill so if you walk to the "T," be prepared for a decent incline walk back up to your hotel room.
HOTEL: The hotel is very well maintained and clean. Staff is ok, no complaints. No free breakfast. Free Wifi. Nice lobby with bar and flat screens. Indoor poor and jacuzzi. No free parking.
ROOM: Stayed in a King room suite. Microwave, 2 flat screens, pullout couch, and refrigerator. Nice clean room. Comfy bed and pillows. Good size room for about 2-3 people. Pullout couch is not real comfortable, but what do you expect, it's a pullout. « less

Dear JoJo_Da _Explorer,
Good morning! Thank you very much for letting other Trip Advisor visitors know of your great stay experience. We have enjoyed a fabulous relationship with the Pittsburgh Penguins and are proud to be their official hotel as well as that for both the Consol Energy Center and Duquesne University. In addition to your thorough description of the nearby "T" light rail service, our Complimentary Shuttle will gladly help guests find their way to every "free stop" on the "T" as well as one the "T" charges for, such as Station Square. It was great reading of your input. We look forward to seeing you again and I hope you had a pleasant and safe trip back to New Jersey.

This is my second stay at this Cambria Suites. Both times were for events at the Consol Energy Center...great place particularly if you are attending an event at the center. The hotel provided transport to Market Square for a wonderful dinner at Il Pizziolla. We stayed in the two bedroom suite...two king beds. One bed in a separate bedroom, and one bed in with the living area. Lots of space!! « less
