Check-in w/o reservation on March 20, 2013 Room was clean, shower was good, bed was comfortable, and breakfast was nice. The hotel was very convenient for anyone heading towards the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Meghan was on duty upon my arrival. She was willing to try and move a TV when the one in my room didn't work. Since the TV was secured to the furniture, it wasn't possible to do this; but she gets an A for effort in trying to accommodate a guest who had already unpacked before discovering the TV issue! I moved to another room, which was just as nice as the first. This is my first stay at an AmericInn, but the quality for the value, and helpful staff makes this hotel brand a good selection for me in the future. « less

Pet-friendly rooms are clean and odor free!!!!! I was thrilled NOT to have to settle for a smelly, 2nd rate room because I was traveling with my dog! The room was clean.ad nicely appointed with a comfortable bed!!
Talk about dog-friendly...management has designated a wing in the back of the buidling as pet-friendly. It had its own small parking lot close to a private entrance. And ther is a large field for running and pottying. Very thoughtful and convenient. A previous reviewer commented on a pond/ditch. That is at the side of the building and you don't have to use that area for your dog. No problem.
The lobby, with a stone fireplace and seating seas, quite inviting. There is a public access computer, magazines, coffee, a pool and meeting room.
Additionally, a variety of breakfast foods are available in a charming dining roo offthe lobby. I noticed cold cereals, oatmeal, bisquits and gravy, toast, bagels fruit, tea and coffee as well as a waffle iron and batter. Generous, I thought!
And the price was quite good. All in all, quite a pleasant surprise.
I am grateful to the staff for their warm hospitality and attetion to detail. « less

Stayed this past w/e for funeral of a family member. HI Express was my 1st choice as I've stayed there before but they could not meet our requirements. AmericInn did their best to accommodate, including a bereavement rate. First impression of the lobby area was welcoming with two seating/gathering areas, and has potential to be much more impressive. The vaulted/beamed ceilings, woodwork bannisters, stone fireplace give a warm feeling. Unfortunately all of the carpeting and upholstery need refreshing as they are dingy and dated and the dusty fake plants need to go. What doesn't help is the indoor pool room door leads directly into the lobby, lending itself to mildew (although surprisingly I didn't smell chlorine). Multiple a/c units and fans in the area and corridors help to alleviate any odors (not so in the rooms, more on that later). Also unfortunate is that some folks found it completely acceptable to enter the lobby area from the pool area barefoot, shirtless and in dripping wet bathing suits to dry off, which should be prohibited. The rooms were typical of what you would expect of a motor lodge. The mini fridge, microwave and computer desk were nice to have, however, refreshing of carpeting and upholstery are needed here as well especially since the a/c units while adequate for climate control, do not alleviate some mustiness. The beds, pillows and linens were OK and housekeeping did a very good job of keeping the room/bathroom very clean. No visible sign of any bugs whatsoever nor mildew. Our chamber maid was very accommodating around our schedule of when we would be in and out of the room and thanked me (!) for letting her know. The breakfast offering was decent in variety, quality and quantity but for some reason the well lit room with sufficient tables and big TV is a magnet for flies (the only place throughout I saw any type of bug) - suggest you take your food to the table/TV area in the lobby or elsewhere. My only other comment is that maintenance/groundskeeping do a better job of keeping the exterior area of the main entrance cleaner - overall the place is clean, unfortunately inconsiderate people do litter and it detracts from first and overall impressions. « less

We stayed here for a concert at the Delaware State fairgrounds. Right across the street, so the location is excellent for walking to and from the concert. The room was clean and had great air conditioning. Plenty of room with a small refrigerator and microwave. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a bit large so they kind of put your head in a wierd position, so itf you are used to a small pillow, bring your own along for best comfort. The breakfast , included in the price was fine, but nothing special, except for the waffles that you make with their machine. They had cereal, bagels, muffins, coffee, juice, and an assortment of frozen foods to microwave like sausage, bacon, and cheese omelet. Nothing fancy, but good enough, and you can have as much as you want. People working there were friendly and helpful. « less

This is our third stay here. The location is perfect for our yearly trip to the Delaware State Fair. We have always had a nice stay here- the room was clean, the air conditioning worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the morning breakfast was nice. Having an indoor pool and hot tub and a safe in the room are 2 very nice things for us. Just a note - we are Harrington casino club members and you get a discount here becasue of it. I checked with the other hotel that gives casino discounts, and Americinn gave the better discount. We will return next year for the fair. « less
