The Binghamton area does not have a wide variety of hotels from which to choose. There are a few cheap, shabby motels, < $50-$60. There are some moderately priced hotels around $100. There are a few hotels > $150.
I chose the Comfort Inn because of the moderate price and, as a chain hotel, they are reliable in cleanliness and amenities in my experience. The room rate for a no smoking king for 1 person was $109. but I requested a corporate rate and received a discount of $98. per night.
The Comfort Inn is located generally between Binghamton Regional Airport and the city of Binghamton/Johnson City (20 minute drive from airport). It was easy to find and a good choice for the Tri-Cities. I felt more secure in this area than a downtown location.
There were several places nearby to eat or have a cocktail including Applebee's. A restaurant called "The Spot" had great food and service. Casey's Cantina has a fun pub atmosphere and menu.
I was very satisfied with the Comfort Inn. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. There is a spacious, inviting lobby area. Beyond a central "living room" area, you can see the cafe area for the complimentary breakfast. There was a good selection of breakfast items including, scrambled eggs, sausage, large waffles made to order, fresh breads, several cereal choices and beverages. Available until 10am. Serving staff were welcoming and friendly.
The room was very nice and clean with a coffee maker. Nice bathroom, comfortable bed and bedding, clean carpeting and a flat panel TV. Although I would have liked to have a small room refrigerator, there was a nearby pop machine with bottled water. I will definitely stay here again when I visit the area. Good value for the cost! « less

Upon arrival, after checking in with a very grumpy person who called herself the manager, and paying $125.00 on a weeknight, we entered through the side door. We did not need a key card to enter the side door, nor did we need a key card all they way up to and through the second floor entrance except to enter our room. The entire hotel smelled musty. The beds were horrible. The only nice thing about the place were the personnel that worked at the breakfast station. They were very hospitable. The management was very rude, and treated us as though they were begrudgingly giving us the last of what they had to accommodate us! « less

With my husband’s run from Owega to Binghamton (during his run around the world), we checked in at the Comfort Inn on the 10th October. There was some kind of convention in town so we were fortunate to get one of the last rooms. The check-inn process was speedy and all the staff were very friendly. The room smelt a little odd so I had to keep a scented candle burning for a while. There was a flat screen television but not all the rooms have a fridge or microwave. However, on request, these were delivered at no extra charge. Our room was nothing flash but it was clean and fairly quiet. The bathroom was very small & there were only just enough towels. The breakfast area was managed by two delightful ladies who were cooking waffles for guests on request (I did notice a tip jar on the bench). There was the usual selection of hot breakfast, if you like that sort of thing. They had a variety of nice teas to choose from which appealed to me. Would recommend a stopover at the Comfort Inn if you were passing through Binghamton. « less

I wrote a review on this hotel two years ago and gave it the same three star rating, but had more negative to say than good. I'm happy to say some improvements have been made that give me more positive things to say this time around. First off, the staff (Bambi in particular) were very helpful and friendly. Room was much cleaner and less worn looking this time around. Due to a full hotel, we were asked to take a pet friendly room, even though we had no pets. We agreed, and I am happy to report the room was spotless. You would never know animals had ever stayed in this same room. We did experience a noise issue with our "next door neighbors", which the staff took care of immediately. My only complaint is that this is a smoking hotel, and the smell of smoke was present in the hallways and the non-smoking rooms. Other than that, we had a great stay. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"Thanks to you I have several new hotel options. Usually when I get a group request I do not have the time to call around and check vacancies and rates and such. Your app has saved me so much time!" K.D. - Grand Rapids, MI
"I wish I knew about you guys sooner, I've enjoyed being able to come home and go to the computer and see lots of hotels asking me to stay with them. (almost like that commercial, when the banks fight over getting your business) Will recommend to others and can't wait to use the service again myself." P.C. - Philadelphia, PA
