My wife and I every year take a trip to Boston for our anniversary and catch a Red Sox game. We were hoping with the hotel being in the heart of the back bay and close enough to walk to Copley Square, it would make a perfect location for our trip. When I went to check in, I was initially very happy as the desk clerk told me there was a note to upgrade our room, however she made a mistake during the check-in process. She asked a supervisor for help, and long story short, it was basically explained to me that it would be very difficult to now change me into an upgraded room. Sorry. So already I'm feeling down. We headed for our room, and the elevators are tiny. Four people without luggage fill them snugly. I have a closet at hope with more space, and I rent. The room was a disappointment: no view, no television guide, hair in the toilet, $4 water that tastes worse than city tap water, rust on the shower caddie, and the mattress was horrible. We could feel each and every spring when we finally laid down. The service was no better. We wanted a cab to go to the game as my wife hates subways. The desk called a cab for us and said it would be 5-10 minutes. I said we would wait out front. 20 minutes later I went back in to see what was going on. A new desk agent called the cab company back, saying they had never been called and it would be at least an hour--after the first pitch. The desk agent told me I could call my own cab if I didn't want to wait, since they had a contract with the cab I was already waiting on. In order to make the first pitch, I had to take the subway. Lovely. The next morning at check out, I expressed my concerns to the desk staff. "Oh, that's sad. I'll make sure to pass it along." That's it. Not a real apology or even a decent cup of coffee for a miserable stay. When I asked for a receipt for my 2 bottles of water, even that was a challenge. At this point there was no way these people were having my card without me knowing what they put on it. All in all, lesson learned. Never again. Will stay at the Omni next to Boston Common instead or even a Holiday Inn before I deal with Motel 140 again. « less

Superb location and cleanliness in the heart of Boston. Highly recommend as it is a great jumpoff for exploring the city. Lots of quality dining and sights to see right outside the hotel's front door. Rooms are petite in size, but were the perfect setting for our celebratory stay. « less
